Ohio Dems seek impeachment of scandal-scarred AG
Source: AP

COLUMBUS, Ohio - House Democrats filed articles of impeachment Tuesday against scandal-scarred Attorney General Marc Dann, a fellow Democrat who could become the first official impeached and convicted in Ohio in two centuries.

The lawmakers' resolution outlines nine counts alleging that Dann should be impeached for gross neglect of duty, gross immorality and obstruction of his office's investigation that found an employee was sexually harassed by a top aide.

On May 2, Dann admitted an extramarital affair with an employee that he said contributed to an atmosphere leading to the sexual harassment claims. Three aides were forced out in the harassment investigation, which showed that management encouraged a casual work environment with frequent profanity and inappropriate interactions with subordinates.

Removing Dann from office would require support from Republicans, who control the Legislature, and a Senate trial. Ohio has not used the impeachment process since 1820, and 1808 was the last time someone was impeached and convicted.

2. We could have had the brilliant Subodh Chandra as AG...
but the scummy pig Marc Dann won the primary largely on the basis of non-funny-name-having.

I love Ohio, but sometimes I really fucking hate Ohio. :grr:

3. When will Ohio investigate the evidence of election fraud in 2004?

Dann is on my short list with the FBI and No OH USA,
those who have no interest in the 2004 irregularity evidence.

4. FINALLY Resigning...
Report: Marc Dann To Resign

POSTED: 12:07 pm EDT May 13, 2008
UPDATED: 2:54 pm EDT May 13, 2008

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- House Democrats filed articles of impeachment Tuesday against scandal-scarred Attorney General Marc Dann, seeking the fellow Democrat's removal for allegations including gross neglect of duty.

Now, the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Dann could step down by the end of the day.

Impeaching Dann, which would require a Senate trial and Republican support, would be historic because Ohio has not used the process since 1820. The last time someone was impeached and convicted in Ohio was 1808.

The Democrats' resolution outlines nine counts of why Dann should be impeached, including allegations of gross immorality and obstruction of his office's investigation that found an employee was sexually harassed by a top aide.

FBI is asked to investigate Marc Dann
Focus might be related to gambling interests

Published on Tuesday, May 13, 2008

COLUMBUS: The FBI has been asked to investigate Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann, reportedly by a task force that is part of Dann's office.

Sources who spoke only on the condition of anonymity said the investigation's focus is Dann's dealings with gambling interests, not the ongoing sexual-harassment scandal in his office that has cost four people their jobs and triggered calls by Gov. Ted Strickland and other Democratic leaders for Dann's resignation or impeachment.

Michael Brooks, an FBI special agent who serves as spokesman, would not comment.

Dann spokesman Ted Hart initially said Monday that he was unaware of an FBI probe.

However, Hart then talked to Dann, who told him that he knew that the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission had initiated a gambling investigation.

Dann, who is chairman of the commission, ''recused himself from that investigation from the beginning,'
' Hart said.

The commission's six members are appointed by the governor. The group works closely with law-enforcement organizations to investigate specific criminal issues, including violent crime, burglary and, more recently, foreclosure scams.
