Congress Passes $373B Spending Bill

<snip>It lets the administration go ahead with rules allowing companies to pay overtime to fewer white collar workers and letting media companies own more television stations. It would create the first federal school vouchers and shorten the period the government keeps records on gun purchasers from 90 days to 24 hours.

The bill permits companies to wait until September 2006, rather than this September, to put country of origin labels on meat and many other foods sold in U.S. stores. Despite the Christmas season discovery of a Washington state cow with mad cow disease, the administration rebuffed demands by Democrats and some cattle-state Republicans to strip the delaying language. <snip>

2. Overtime bill was included in it also
What was the Family Leave Flexibility Act that was rejected outright by the Senate was buried in this bill, not that it was secret. The question I would like answered is when overtime as we have known it is gone. The media is not going to tell people the details of this attack on the paycheck of the working man.

It would have been a great question in tonight's debate if they were serious about the most relevant questions. Some candidate should have worked into an answer so that people might know it is time to wake up/

Now the Nazis will push for their Energy bill that failed by two votes before Christmas.

3. Sorry to bring it up
but both Kerry and Edwards missed the vote. How do they now ask one of those 8 mil Americans who lost overtime to spend their time go vote for them.

4. Did you all hear about the gun law that was added?
Now instead of keeping records on gun sales for 90 days, they are to be destroyed within 24 hours. Yes, you heard it right and the law enforcement agencies are pissed! Apparently law enforcement agencies were able to track criminals using these records. I saw people on there claiming that this was completely irresponsible. The total freaks from the NRA claim that the government doesn't have a right to keep gun sale records. My husband was screaming at the television about all the other records they keep on you.
