1. lose half your workers, and keep 95% of capacity
people will be fighting to be first in line for the severance package option.

5. My signifigant other just called to say he recieved an early retirement offer.
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 10:56 AM by Marrah_G
(From Delta) It's a very good offer and if he can line up another job he will take it. 26 weeks severence, all his holidays and 5 weeks vacation, plus his retirement benefits, travel benefits, etc etc.

He has been there more then 25 years. He loves Delta but think it might be wise to go now.

Our economy is screwed.

7. There's more to the story
They are offering severance to 30,000 people, so that they can meet their target of a workforce reduction of 2,000.

8. I know someone who has seen many airlines come and go,
And they have reiterated that when they(an airline) are hurting it is ALWAYS because upper management wants to cut costs-no matter what it takes! Well, guess what?!!! SERVICE and SAFETY are what suffers the most!! When will these CEOS ever learn??!! Another instance of Greed! It will come back to bite them in the ass!
