Bush seeks to reassure on economy
Source: AFP - YAHOO!

US President George W. Bush heads to New York Friday for a speech aimed at reassuring them that things will get better.

He will call for confidence that the world's richest economy will, in a matter of months, recover from woes like the worsening housing crisis, the anemic dollar, and skyrocketing oil and gasoline prices, aides said.

But he was not expected to announce any major new proposals.

At the same time, the administration has turned aside questions about whether the US economy is in a recession, with Fratto saying Thursday that: "We know lots of people want to try to find labels for headlines, but we're going to be focused on policy."

Buffeted by a stronger-than-expected drop in monthly US retail sales, the White House also urged US consumers -- a key engine of the world's largest economy -- to shop.

Bush: People Will 'Look Back' At 'This Moment In Economic History' And Say 'Tax Cuts Work'

In remarks to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce today, President Bush continued his rosy rhetoric on the economy. He predicted that in the future, people will look back at today’s financial situation and say that “tax cuts work”:

"And I want to thank you very much for supporting the tax cuts plans that had good effect on small businesses all across the United States during that period of time. I think when people take a look back at this moment in our economic history, they’ll recognize tax cuts work. They have made a difference."

and manipulate the public, telling them to spend, spend, spend... When what they should be doing is saving and curtailing living beyond their means.

He's banking on everyone going out and spending their $600 tax rebate instead of paying off debt or saving it.

What a fucking moron.

But I guess I will sprint to the Gallery, open early, and brace myself for the hordes of shoppers who will be propelled out of their houses, into their cars, and onto the sidewalks with all of that red-hot money burning holes in their ever-loving shoppers' pockets.

All of that, after FuckStick saves us all with another pointless speech.

U.S. Economy: Drop in Retail Sales Signals Recession

March 13 (Bloomberg) -- Retail sales in the U.S. unexpectedly fell in February, indicating that declines in payrolls and home values and a surge in energy costs have pushed the economy into a recession.

19. There has to be discretionary income to shop with.
Yesterday I filled my car with gas and it took $40.00. Not so long ago it took $20.00 to "fill 'er up". The difference has to come from somewhere. Recently I purchased two bell peppers at the market and they were $4.00. I don't have much in my budget left for shopping.

When Mr Bush try to reassure us all. Both you who are in US and us who are abroad, I am more worry about the economy than ever.. And I am not in the position, or have the knowledge to know the inter working of how the economy are working...

But I do know, when I smell a lie.. And mr Bush are lying true and true and have doing it for many year now.. When this is blowing up in the faces of 300 mil people I would not be in the shoes of mr Bush.. But when it blow up, he may not even be in the country, to take responsibility to what he have being doing.. Always when thing is going bad, this man have just disepeared...

.. and this is no different. The DictatorTot is the market's and the world's greatest contrary indicator. Anything he says can be counted on to be the opposite of the truth, and he never disapoints.

He lied his way into the presidency, he lied us into war and he is used to thinking his lies can perform miracles.

Well not this time. The economy sucks, it's going to suck worse, and no amount of lying will fix it.
