61. Now- onto Speaker of the House
Imagine a coequal branch led by Congressman Kucinich---what a dream!
Kucinich supporters are working together at
http://peacecandidates.com/discuss
to support candidates for Congress who will cut off funding to Iraq, shut down the Military Industrial Complex and instead support domestic programs like HR676 and the rest of the Kucinich platform. We need to support Kucinich candidates that will elect him to Speaker of the House and we can still have the country we believe in.

62. Kucinich will not be speaker of the house
He won exactly zero delegates and got about 25,627 votes before he withdrew from the Presidential campaign.

Dennis Kucinich is a good man but he's not going to unseat Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the house.

77. I agree, my friend...
The sniping on DU has made me crazy, LOL. We need to have a nominee and support him/her, bottom line, as in 2004. *sigh* I think that we need a little humor here, though what happens, regarding our next administration, is dead serious. But each of us can only do what we can do...

But, IMO, this series of posts were just silly. Mario Cuomo, my governor, was the only Mario that I could think of...:hi:

69. Good for you! I'm sure that he needed it and you helped him win his primary!
People are a bit misguided when it comes to donations. Even if a candidate, like Dennis, has dropped out of the presidential race, their campaign still has bills to pay and Dennis really needed help winning his primary, since there has been unfair and serious efforts in Ohio to unseat this amazing congressman who has done so much for us. :patriot:

Thank you, from me.:pals:

14. Be patient.
85 of 641 precincts have reported... that definitely adds up to more than 3% at the official site.

Because of the delay (all polls weren't closed until 9 PM), it's been hard to release numbers that have had to remain internal within the polling places and campaigns.

You'll get your real numbers soon enough, and Dennis will be announced as the winner, which he already is, but it hasn't been officially declared by the news outlets.

But even after they do declare him the winner tonight, that doesn't mean we can rest on our laurels. He may get challenged again in 2010 and the anti-Kucinich forces might be smart enough to not split the vote next time around. We must stay eternally vigilant.

26. Good, but...
I'm not nearly as worried about the general election as a potential rematch primary in 2010, with the anti-Kucinich forces rallying behind one candidate. Cimperman did slightly better than the internal polling showed. The real tragedy is that, from the information I'm getting, that if you tally all the votes from all the primary challengers combined, it adds up to slightly more than the votes Kucinich got.

There were weather considerations to take into account, but the message is clear... take nothing for granted so long as Dennis Kucinich is Congress. He's obviously beginning to bother the fatcats in power -- a good thing in principle -- but something that requires much defense from their corporate crony assaults.

50. If he doesn't get back to you...
... I have some ideas. If you're interested... mainly from what I've heard, not so much what I personally feel/think. I find him occassionally odd and awkward, but he doesn't annoy me like he apparently does others, even some of his supporters. I don't find it hard to support him at all, without much reservations at all. At least not until we have a House and Senate full of progressives that meet the token requirement for charisma that is found in so many others I know.

65. It's mostly his lack of explanatory skills
He does the right thing, knows he's doing the right thing, and so fails to explain himself adequately to others. It's obvious to him, after all, why explain? He fails to get that people can't read his mind.

It's even worse when he fucks up, as in the Ron Paul running mate idiocy. He said 'not gonna happen', which was sufficient unto the day, but hardly comforting to his supporters. I gave him money, carried water for him, and then he said something so incredibly stupid and destructive to the Left, I felt betrayed. All I got were a few sentences that failed to address the issue.

And when he does say something exculpatory, it's terse and done with ill grace.

This has happened more than once over the years, and I get tired of having to base my support for him on faith.

He's a good man, not many better, but jesus, it would be great to have him open up to people who have been on his side since his time as mayor.

God knows we need an honest person in that cesspool that they call Congress and Dennis is one of the few. I am also glad because the people of Ohio's 10 district proved, once again, that not all people can be bought off and manipulated by corporations. They are so very lucky to have him for a rep. 68. The ironic thing is...
... so many of the people that pulled the lever (or pressed the button, or whatever) for Kucinich in the 10th also wound up casting their ballot for Hillary at the top of the ticket, especially many of the gay people in the district (I know, because I have contacts within the district, and just about every gay person I know in that district {not to mention so many elsewhere in Ohio} told me they voted for her). So if you consider people who vote for Hillary to be bought off and manipulated by corporations, then there were lots that were based on who they voted for president, but weren't based on who they voted for Congress. Of course, I'm betting that just about everyone who voted for Cimperman voted for Hillary, as well, so make of all of that what you will...

Split ticket voting for Republicans and Dems both? How about split ticket voting for pro-corporate and anti-corporate candidates?
