U.S. will not attack Iran
Source: RIA Novosti

DAVOS, January 25 (RIA Novosti) - The U.S. will not attack Iran, but will prevent the country from getting nuclear weapons, the country's homeland security secretary told RIA Novosti on Friday.

Michael Chertoff, who also talked about Russia - U.S. relations, terrorism, non-proliferation and the Iranian nuclear issue was asked whether the U.S. would launch an offensive attack against Iran over nuclear weapons concerns.

He said: "No... we need to continue to press the international community with respect to sanctions and other instruments to encourage the Iranians to comply, become transparent in their actions and not progress along the path that ultimately leads in a very dangerous direction."

Chertoff stressed the importance of non-proliferation stating that it was a top priority for U.S. collaboration with Russia, saying the two countries had "to make sure that weapons of mass destruction" did not find their way into "the hands of new states or terrorists."

15. yup. I think the flattening of Lebanon by Isreal was a dry run of Iran.
a stupid dry run, since Iran would not allow themselves to be flattened, but everything that happened in that "operation" was a training excercise.

4. Well, if Michael Chertoff said it, I guess that settles it. Here's proof.
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 04:36 PM by faygokid
We can certainly believe whatever Michael Chertoff says, and here's why:

1. He is a senior Bush Administration official, and we know none of them ever lie.

2. Certainly he would be the first person with whom Dick Cheney would share his war plans, so he oughta know.

3. Look at the gee-whiz bang-up job Chertoff did regarding Katrina.

4. It's not like the Bushies are doing anything suspicious like bringing Wolfowitz back to head up arms control, or something suspicious like that (what - you mean they are?? http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2008/01/25/wolfowitz_appointed_chairman_of_arms_control_advisory_panel/

5. Look at the man. Doesn't he just ooze trustworthiness?

19. That Wolfie appointment is sickening
Seems every Repub wrongdoer since 1980 gets unlimited chances. Boy do they cherish loyalty to the cause, job competency a distant second, if that.

is a Neo Con. He went to learn under Leo Strauss in Chicago about chaos and rule (along with Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc.).

He lied about Iraq and should be before the Hague. He tried to steal millions for himself and his gal from the world bank.

He's a member of an illegal organizations who meet and talk about controlling the world their way behind closed doors (The Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations, etc.). When are they going to enforce that law banning such representation without our permission (or Congresses) as required by law? If you aren't elected/appointed and it isn't in the public discussion, it isn't democracy or legal representation under the law (Constitution).

Criminals the lot of them. What a mess they've made of the world. There's no "meant to lead elite talent" in that group.

They can't let go of power and our Congress lets them do it. They even decide who is going to rule (and most of them are from the EU and bankers). Talk about destroying democracy from within and without.

Edited on Sun Jan-27-08 09:53 AM by mac2
are back. We made a mistake of not putting them in jail or worse. They were traitors to America and murderers in S. America. They are the same gang yet Congress turns a blind eye (except for the few who have morals).

Presidents Ford and Bush pardoned them for the sake of bringing back "unity" and faith in government. Blah! It's more like we give our gang a "get out of jail card".

terrorists. His inaction horrified everyone. These events were genocide for power and proift. Oh I forgot..."You did a good job of ruining the Democratic Gulf", Chernoff!! Lots of people died and we got to steal land, money, take power, etc.

What Homeland Security?

26. It's how they profit and use our money/power to do it
It's how the Bush administration does "business". No one stays in their role which Congress appointed them to.

Like VP Cheney doing as many as six or more military exercises from a underground bunker in Maryland on 911. He's not Secretary of Defence nor is he trained to be a military person. That alone is reason for impeachment.

Chernoff does not have permission to attend that conference (by Congress) unless he's there to threaten. OR someone has to keep them safe. Are we paying for the mercinaries to do that? Did we decide on the issues and policies for that conference? Any disucssion?

That's in that budget for the Defense Department which Congress doesn't care what they use it for. Here's the public tax dollars...spend it at will.

They can't complain in the primaries about Congresses bad financial management because they are part of it.

12. What about North Korea?
"the two countries had "to make sure that weapons of mass destruction" did not find their way into "the hands of new states or terrorists.""

Or before that, Pakistan.
Or before that, India.
Or before that, China.
Or before that, France.
Or before that, Britain.
Or before that, Russia.

Every country is new to the nuclear club at some point. It's the kind of club nobody is allowed to join, unless they bash the door down by testing a bomb. Then it's "hi, there pardner."
