Musharraf Rejects U.N. Inquiry on Bhutto

PARIS (Reuters) - Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf ruled out a U.N. inquiry into the assassination of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, as demanded by her party, saying that Pakistan should not be compared to Lebanon.

"It is not possible. Is another country involved?" he said in an interview with Le Figaro newspaper published on its Web site on Friday. "Pakistan is not Lebanon."

Bhutto's party has called for a U.N. inquiry into her death comparable to one into the 2005 killing of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri, whose death was blamed by many Lebanese on Syria. Damascus denies involvement.

Musharraf said Pakistan had its own institutions to manage the inquiry into Bhutto's assassination, and noted they would also be helped by British police....

The policeman in charge of clearing the streets has now stated that an alleged Bhutto-supporting crowd appeared suddenly out of nowhere (after he had secured the way) and just magically happened to materialize just where the gunman and the suicide bomber (now in heaven with the virgins surrounding his foolish body)were situated. Oh, sure, some supporters. Before the policeman could clear them she was struck.

The Pakistani government has offered to exhume her body and conduct an
autopsy, but Bhutto's family says it will only agree if Musharraf allows
a UN-led inquiry into the murder, which he has ruled out.

"There cannot be a UN investigation," Musharraf told Newsweek.
"There are not two or three countries involved. Why should there
be a UN investigation? This is ridiculous."

his place, it could be so much worse. The jihadists and Islamist fundamentalists with
a nuclear bomb, because Pakistan is a nuclear power.

7. I wondered when this would come out

I was gone the week Bhutto was assassinated, but I wondered whether anyone was connecting the dots back to Musharraf. He had the most to gain from her death, after all.

Heh. Ironically, it will be us that will block the UN investigation, much as we blocked intervention in Lebanon while Israel was test running our invasion plans for Iran there.

Our PR people are really letting our image as "The light of the world" get s***canned.
