Rally to kick off 4-day bus tour for peace
Source: AP

MANCHESTER, N.H.—Two New Hampshire peace groups are kicking off a 4-day bus tour with a rally this afternoon at the Manchester city library.

New Hampshire Peace Action and the American Friends Service Committee are sponsoring the tour. They say they want to urge presidential candidates to withdraw troops from Iraq, commit to resolving conflicts in Iraq through diplomacy and transfer money being spent on the war to meet human needs in Iraq and the U.S., including care for returning veterans.

Arnie Alpert of the Friends Service Committee says the rally is non-partisan and will not support or oppose specific candidates.

Great activism. Nice to see someone at least printed an article on it. Puts the lie to CNN who keeps saying no one cares about this stuff anymore.

1. Blessings to the Quakers!
I'm grateful they are keeping this issue out front.

2. AFSC
Amazing the vile rubbish I have to listen to about the AFSC sometimes, they supported commies during Viet Nam War etc. etc. Some Americans really seem to hate peace activists, quite surprising.

3. Surprising Indeed
Welcome to DU PhillyQuaker

:hi:

But not so surprising when one thinks about all the propaganda that abounds in school textbooks and public media.

Peace

6. It is surprising in relation to people disliking peace activists
as mentioned in PhillyQuaker's post.

Not surprising at all about no coverage of the peace rally in NH. Same Old, Same Old.

5. Welcome to DU PhillyQuaker,
Some Americans who believe that might makes right (and big bucks besides) find you all VERY intimidating.

It's your consistency that gives them the willies. It's been a coupla Centuries and your price hasn't been met. They just find it impossible to contemplate that some people can't be bought.
