In broad daylight on Sept. 11, 2003, somebody deposited what could have been a "dirty bomb" at the Washington Monument. U.S. Park Police never noticed.

1. Can you say paranoia?

Most of the terrorist would fade away never to return if only the bu$h administration would be arrested, tried, and sentenced to long prison terms.

2. I reported a suspicious package once

Someone left a box of assorted solvents and other stuff (I didn't investigate too closely) on the sidewalk near my house one Friday a few months ago. Being a good citizen (I do try) I called the police to report it - who referred me to the recycling department who assured me that since this was theoretically toxic waste someone would pick it up - on Monday. Come Monday, the box was still there. It took two more calls from me, two from them ("Uh, what was that address again?" "We couldn't find it 'cause the dispatcher gave us the wrong location - what's the address again?") and 8 days for the proper channels.

Good thing it wasn't too dangerous.
