(Bill) Clinton closes gap with Bush as nation's 'Most Admired Man' (Gore third place)
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Looks like all of Bill Clinton's time on the campaign trail this year for his wife Hillary may be paying off in the polls for more than one member of the family.

Sitting presidents usually top Gallup's list of the country's most admired man, and this year is no exception: President Bush leads, as the choice of 10 percent of those polled. But in this survey, he's in a statistical tie with former President Bill Clinton, at 8 percent. In the last survey, there was an 8-point margin of separation, with Bush leading 13 to 5 percent, and a 17-point difference in a 2004 poll.

Former Vice President Al Gore, who won several high-profile awards in 2007 for his work to raise awareness about climate change, also shot up in the poll — now in third place with 6 percent — 5 percentage points higher than last year.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama nudges out the Rev. Billy Graham and Nelson Mandela for fourth place with 5 percent. Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, and Rudy Giuliani also make the list — all at 1 percent.

8. Scary, isn't it? Those 10% might as well have
responded that they admire Charles Manson.

22. Uh, did you read the results? Only 10% say Bush is the most admired.
Hardly what I would say is the mandate on American opinion.

9. Hell, I admire him
I wish I could go so far with so little intelligence.
I wish my family could get me the kind of positions he's had despite his record of failure.
I wish I could sleep at night having been responsible for so much death and destruction.

11. Sitting presidents are always at the top of this poll, and 10% is actually
low for one. Clinton was always around 20% when he was in office.

29. That is good and HRC most admired woman and one word I
will say will be a key once HRC obtains the nomination: SYMBOLIC

When HRC wins the nomination too many republican strategists are girding up for the wrong fight. Republicans are acting and talking and putting out talking points that HRC is too polarizing and making folks believe it will be Leona Hemlsey, the notorious Queen of Mean they will be running against instead of Hillary Rodham Clinton......Folks believe me before this election is over, HRC's candidacy will have more in common with Amelia Earhart's first trans atlantic flight or Sally K Ride's first trip into space than Helmsley's heartlessness.....

Many in here that support obama and edwards have bought into the rights spin and believe HRC will be beat and also they believe if she wins the nomination she will be a loser. FOLKS, far from it because you and the right fail to grasp the crucial role that SYMBOLISM plays in politics. Once HRC is the nominee HRC's bid to be the FIRST EVER WOMAN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES and believe you me, IT IS A DAMN BIG DEAL, and it will ver shadow every other issue and image as the campaign goes forth.

It is so damn curious that so many in here that enjoy posting polls that show HRC's negatives OVERLOOK that fact that HRC's negatives are clustered mainly among republicans and republican leaning independents whoa re unlikely to vote for her in any circumstance. Over a two year( Aug 05 -Aug 07) period Gallup reported that among "pure independents" HRC had a 46% favorable rating and 43% unfavorable and 12% no opinion. Looking at this would believe it was too close to call but here is the kicker......but RIPE FOR SYMBOLIC EXPLOITATION.....

33. President Bush is the most admired, Hillary the most admired woman
this is, after all, the nation that produced Ms. South Carolina...such as....South Africa.

Do people understand why have so little respect for the majority of my peers who walk among me. Once in a while, I meet an intelligent, interesting soul. The vast majority are a horde of morons.
