NBC Rejects Ad From Conservative Group
Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON (AP) -- NBC has rejected a TV ad by Freedom's Watch, a conservative group that supports administration policy in Iraq, that asks viewers to remember and thank U.S. troops during the holiday season.

NBC said it declined to air the ad because it refers to the group's Web site, which the network said was too political, not because of the ad's message.

"Anybody in the world who would look at this ad would come away with nothing other than we should thankful for their service," Freedom's Watch president Brad Blakeman said.

4. It's disappointing that there is no outcry against this kind of conduct
here.

This shows a real bias on the part of NBC. I think this bias sometimes seeps into its news.

6. Fair is fair
If they're gonna reject ads from a zillion progressive/liberal groups, then I won't cry when they do it to the neocon's Ari's little pack of war mongers.

9. What are you talking about?
NBC is only lightly less fascist than Fox, which I guess you watch a lot of. This ad will NOT be balanced by any anti-death, anti-fascist, or anti-war-profiteering.

I suggest you go back to freeperville, where you'll fit in MUCH better.

5. Freedom's Watch is NOT a "conservative" group.
Freedom's watch is a pro Bush, pro Iraq war, pro Iran invasion organization organized by Ari Fleisher and friends for the sole purpose of spreading propaganda in favor of the Neo-Cons and the Bush/Cheney Administrations' perverted world view.

It's is a rash move, but it's also comforting that a MSM organization has finally decided to choose morality over monetary.

"War supporters are adjusting strategy as well. Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer, who co-founded a group called Freedom's Watch to press Republicans to stick with Bush's war policy, sees an opening to expand the message. "The campaign we launched in August was really to make sure Republicans didn't defect," he said. "Now it's fair to say, because facts have changed on the ground, that we have the opportunity to bring back on board independents who had been lost."

7. I'm getting annoyed by local businesses that have
"Support our troops" or "Thank our troops for our freedom" on their signs. Especially convenience stores that sell gas. It just seems really crass to me. Freedom has nothing about what we're currently doing, it's all about oil and corporate profits.
