Huckabee: Politicization of rape victims' deaths 'heartbreaking'
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said it was "heartbreaking" that the deaths of women killed by a convicted rapist who was released from prison after Huckabee supported his parole had become politicized.

On Wednesday, the mother of the woman the convict later murdered pledged to campaign against the former Arkansas governor.

"There are families who are truly, understandably and reasonably, grief stricken," Huckabee told CNN. "And for people to now politicize these deaths and to try to make a political case out of it rather than to simply understand that a system failed and that we ought to extend our grief and heartfelt sorrow to these families, I just regret politics is reduced to that."

Shame on you, mother of a murder victim!

Do you think Huckabee has any aides suggesting he say he's sorry and then shut up?

1. The SYSTEM Did NOT FAIL ASSHOLE! You GAMED The SYSTEM
And FORCED IT to parole this guy. The SYSTEM tried to STOP you from doing so, but you used your position as Governor to FORCE it to parole this scumbag against ALL REASONABLE ADVICE INCLUDING THAT OF THE PAROLE BOARD. What a scumbag.

4. This murderer was free to murder again precisely BECAUSE Huckster politicized his case
Huckster claimed he was innocent, but was getting the shaft because one of his many victims was a distant cousin of Bill Clinton.

Huckabee, and the right-wingnuts he was answerable to, were the ones who politicized these crimes - no one else.

Of course, Huckster is in an enormous spin cycle right now and claiming the opposite of exactly everything that is the truth.

7. I didn't know this. Hadn't been following it closely,
but couldn't understand why he'd paroled this guy. Your post clarifies things. Thanks!

...(Huckabee) claimed (the rapist) was innocent, but was getting the shaft because one of his many victims was a distant cousin of Bill Clinton.

One of his MANY victims. If she'd been the only one, this would be bad enough, but apparently the Rethugs hated Clinton THAT much. This make the Plame leak look downright respectable.

6. He's trying to throw up a smoke screen. It's not the deaths
of the women that are being politicized, it's Huckabee's actions.

8. Nice to see that prick really cares huh?
The only thing that piece of shit repuke really thinks is heartbreaking is the fact that it's coming out as he decides to run for head god boy of the United States... oh sorry I mean secular President.

I only hope that more shit is hanging out in that former fat guy's closet, he doesn't look anywhere near a squeaky clean as he was trying to portray.

I will bet that he wins the War Party/Neocon nomination.

Today cinched it, and it was worth it: watching Romney lick the boots of those imbeciles. All of his money, but he cannot buy them out of their bigotry.

17. But the vendetta of the republican party of Bill Clinton and all the
digging into a false Whitewater project was heartbreaking. I guess it just depends on who you are...republicans that's a no no...democrats hell go for it...like bush crooked ass father did with Dukausis and Willie Horton, Dukausis who had absolutely nothing to do with pardoning Horton, while Huckabee deliberately and personally pardoned a rapist who later raped and murdered two innocent women.

19. There are 3 parts to an apology Mike.
1. I'm sorry (very important)
2. I was wrong (very important step)
3. What can I do to make it right? (very difficult but important step).

I don't think you can successfully run any type of campaign with this hanging over it. My advice (though you will never see it) is that you drop out. But before you do, take the opportunity offered by your national stage to accomplish steps 1-3.

Bill's been blamed for many things, but never for leading Huckleberry to the parole board to beg for a criminal's release.

29. But I would put money on it
that Huckabible would never allow a rape victim to obtain an abortion. Never. Never. No way. He wants to change the Constitution to make it so.

Talk about politicizing a rape victim.

For all of his perceived warmth and humor, he is nothing more than a fundy whack job. The guy is a threat.

31. The death of his murder victim is "heartbreaking"!
The sheer hypocrisy of this slimebag is breathtaking. He successfully uses his position to fight for the release of a murderous rapist, who promptly goes out and rapes and murders after his release, blames it all on Bill Clinton, and then whines about "politicization"
