Pat Robertson's Son Takes Over CBN (won't endorse for '08)
Source: Associated Press

The Rev. Pat Robertson said Monday that his son, Gordon, has succeeded him as chief executive of the Christian Broadcasting Network, the most recent shift to a younger generation of leaders within major conservative Christian groups.

Robertson, 77, announced the transition on "The 700 Club," the Virginia-based network's flagship show, with Gordon, 49, on air with him.

... Gordon Robertson, who shares his father's Pentecostal-style faith, told the AP that he and his father have different styles, pointing to their approach to playing chess.

"Dad likes the bold strikes and bold moves," he said. "I like looking at the end game, and I think it's good to do that."

He says he won't endorse a presidential candidate.

2. He is still trying to maintain his hold.
It is all strategy.

I believe Falwell's successor already backed Ghoul-iani.

However Dobson has already ranted about how terrible the republican front runners are. (presently he is too nervous to actually back Brownback or Huckabee, after all no one wants to back a dead end loser. Dobson will eventually come out for Huckabee I think.

Pat and Son are playing between these positions, desperately trying to stay relevant in a voting block that is already quietly disintegrating. Their early and often support for 'W' is tearing the religious right to pieces.

Pat and Son will probably stay out of the family business until another Bush runs. Probably Jeb.

5. Have you watched Pat on the 700 Club lately?
I think he has alzheimer's, he's getting even more erratic than usual (considering he wants Halloween banned and thinks that gays are to blame for 9-11). His son has to take over.

6. Patriarchal is as patriarchal does,
to paraphrase a well-known movie line. I think Falwell's male spawn in backing Huckabee because ol' Huckey is a "man of God". Perhaps Pat will hush up and go back to bench pressing 2000 pounds thanks to his vitamin shake.
