WASHINGTON - The director of national intelligence is weighing whether to hire the federal official who organized a fake Federal Emergency Management Agency news conference.

John P. "Pat" Philbin, FEMA's external affairs director, on Monday was supposed to take over the public information shop at the Office of National Intelligence Director headed by Mike McConnell. But that was put on hold so McConnell could review Philbin's record, according to DNI spokesman Ross Feinstein.

Philbin's work has come under question after he arranged a hastily-called televised FEMA news conference last Tuesday on the California wildfires. The session was announced on short notice and featured questions for FEMA's deputy administrator, Vice Adm. Harvey Johnson.

No genuine journalists attended, although they were given a conference call number they could use to listen in — but not ask questions. A half-dozen questions were asked at the event — by FEMA staff members posing as reporters.

WASHINGTON - The man who staged a fake Federal Emergency
Management Agency new conference has lost a chance to be
National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell's top public
information officer.

John P. "Pat" Philbin, FEMA's external affairs director, who
had been scheduled to move into the new job on Monday, will
not be getting it after last week's phony news conference.
The staged question-and-answer session was harshly criticized
by both the White House and Homeland Security Secretary
Michael Chertoff, whose department oversees FEMA.

"We do not normally comment on personnel matters," DNI
spokesman Ross Feinstein said Monday. "However, we can
confirm that Mr. Philbin is not, nor is he scheduled to be, the
director of public affairs for the Office of the Director of
National Intelligence."

Feinstein said earlier that Philbin's job change had been put
on hold while McConnell reviewed his record.

"is not, nor is he scheduled to be." They do not say that he "never was scheduled to be." If no one had caught onto this ahead of time, I'd bet they would have just slipped him in like a coin into a slot.

5. FEMA, our first response is fascism

FEMA was created to oversee Martial Law in America. They spent the first several years of their efforts designing all encompassing plans for infinite variations of martial law.
In 1985 the REX 84 plan was revealed at the Iran-Contra hearings and quickly shut up by Sen. Dan Inouye. The Miami-Herald had published an article explaining how REX 84 was going to arrest and detain in FEMA concentration camps 21 million black Americans.
There are claims that FEMA has over 800 camps in America.
Does anybody else remember in 1985/1986 President Reagan announcing the United States is becoming more authoritarian? I do and his administration is still in office. And boy! Are we authoritarian now!
