1. Very happy for my former colleague Michael Arad
He's a great guy and I think his solution was brilliant in the tradition of Maya Lin's wall. The void at the center of the pool perfectly captures the sense of loss- water endlessly falling into an abyss. Really brilliant.

Maya Lin's Civil Rights monument (and several others she's designed) makes very effective use of water.
