Bush Proclaims End to Saddam's Regime
Edited on Wed Jul-23-03 10:32 AM by liberal_veteran
By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites) on Wednesday hailed the deaths of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s two sons as the clearest sign yet that "the former regime is gone and will not be coming back."

Bush called Odai and Qusai Hussein, who were both killed on Tuesday during a firefight with U.S. forces, "two of the regime's chief henchmen ... responsible for torture, maiming and murder of countless Iraqis."

Still, in a Rose Garden appearance with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and L. Paul Bremer, the U.S. occupation governor for Iraq (news - web sites), Bush said that "a few remaining holdouts" loyal to Saddam's government are complicating efforts to stabilize Iraq and advance freedom.

"These killers are the enemies of Iraq's people. They operate mainly in a few areas of the country. And wherever they operate, they're being hunted and they will be defeated," Bush said in brief remarks. He did not respond to questions shouted by reporters.

2. Again?
I thought the Codpiece in Chief proclaimed the end of the regime in his "Mission Accomplished" speec May 1 on the USS Abraham Lincoln:

"The tyrant has fallen, and Iraq is free!"

"The
insider, offering us a personal view of Bush lore, recounted Bush’s response when
asked if the now famous “cod piece” in the flight suit he had worn for his aircraft
carrier landing came with the suit or whether it was made specially for Bush.

At first, or so the story goes, Bush replied to the question about the cod piece by
reminding his friend about “the importance of marketing.” Then, when the friend
repeated his cod piece question, our Machismo President responded that what
appeared down below (presumably in the vicinity of the cod piece) was really all
his."

5. I guess that explains ...
why we have seen an increase in American Deaths in Iraq.

1) Mission Accomplished = about 1 American Soldier / day
2) End of Saddam Regime = about 2 American Soldiers / day

Please AWOL, keep your FUCKING mouth shut, and bring our soldiers home. We can no longer afford the consequences of your stupid declarations.

Cheers
Drifter

6. I know it would be costly to the U.S. but
I hope the pressure keeps up in Iraq, I don't want Bush having anything he can call a victory. If the resistance drops he will tout it as his great and profound foreign policy. It is the only thing he has to run on. If the pressure keeps up, Saddam is not found etc he will continue to have falling poll numbers. I work with a repug that has unwavering support for Bush. She is of the opinion that if Saddam is captured the whole thing was justified. When this happens he will talk and people like me will learn the truth of the 9/11 attacks and that would be that Iraq was behind them. So at the short term cost to the U.S. may the pressure keep up, Saddam not be found. The big picture here, new president and a foreign policy that works.

7. Where's the evidence - proof for a trial? We could convict Bush of
AWOL Treason 100 times over with the evidence we've got on him. Along with a 100 other convictions in The Bush Crime Family Regime.

"Yesterday in the city of Mosul, the careers of two of the regime's chief henchmen came to and end," the president, speaking in the Rose Garden. "Saddam Hussein's sons were responsible for the torture, maiming and murder of countless Iraqis."

11. What a sick, twisted a******!
Chimpster on his repug buddies strutting around on the mangled carcasses of the Husseins. However twisted those two were, the incompetent in the WH showed how utterly classless he is. This utterly sickens me.
