Disgraced Fundraiser for Clinton Cast a Wide Net

To raise $850,000 for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign in just eight months, Norman Hsu tapped an eclectic group of donors that included wealthy investors in his apparel ventures, hotel shopkeepers, a 96-year-old in a Florida retirement home and an auto-body worker who mistakenly thought he would get a tax break for his political generosity.

The Clinton campaign has not yet released any information about the 260 donors whose contributions it is now refunding because they were credited to the prodigious fundraising of the former fugitive, but a detailed analysis of donors Hsu brought to Clinton shows that he tapped many Asian American donors in California and New York, including complete strangers as well as his relatives. He also raised political funds from people who had already invested large sums in his private business ventures.

Some donors among the nearly 100 identified this week said they never met Hsu and did not know that their donations had been credited to his fundraising. Others had trouble explaining why they gave the funds to Clinton or could not recall the circumstances in which they met Hsu.

5. You can't think of a reason that asians would contribute to campaigns?

What percentage of the American population is asian? How many mayors, state reps, city councilmen, congressmen, senators, governors, and presidents are or have been asian?

Are asians even allowed to vote without harassment? Ask AALDEF about their exit polls.

They work their tails off and they save in cash. What possible way can they be heard EXCEPT with money?


The sheer bloody miracle is that asians are giving to Democrats. They are conservative by nature and culture. They were a Republican sure thing. Once.

3. Just remember one thing about all of this....

There is so much money coming at in such a short time that every campaign, except those who can't raise money, will eventually be hit for taking money from a shaky fund-raiser...

It's the nature of the beast...

People make promises to a campaign manager about raising X amount of money...

When that guy has a hard time full filling his promise, he starts spreading his own money around to his freinds and associates and asks them to make a donation in their name...

Of course the campign manager or chief fundraiser wants to believe every check they get is "good"...

It happens all the time...

It happens to our candidates as well as those on the other side of the aisle...

Until we get real campaign funding reform, it will never change...

8. Yeah, but this way was a MAJOR fundraiser and the campaign

was warned about him twice and checked him out and gave him a clean bill of health twice. Someone on the campaign is either a wishful thinker or incompetent or both.

forever, but as anyone heard of the name Robert Lichfield? Well, here is something you will not see being reported......
Robert Lichfield is named in a federal lawsuit charging that students of the “behavior modification” schools with ties to WWASPS were subjected to “physical abuse, emotional abuse and sexual abuse.” …not much has been heard about this in all the yelling and screaming over Hsu even though ’s been bringing in far more money for Flip Flop than Hsu has brought in for Democrats.

I want to know if Romney, Orrin Hatch, and other Lichfield wingnut beneficiaries will return the money or donate it to charity, as Democrats have announced they will do with the Hsu donations. We’re waiting….

6. And have you heard of

Peter Paul? You know the one we haven't heard anything about in the news. The case of Paul vs. Clinton is in appeals court. Tomorrow a decision will be made as to whether or not to re-include Hillary following new video evidence that Paul claims shows Hillary committing felonies. I've seen the video and it does have some teeth.

The historical significance of a presidential candidate defending herself, in the midst of a presidential campaign, from videotaped evidence possibly capturing felony violations of federal law has been lost on the Mainstream Media.

They may very well vote in her favor again. She was let off the first time using the anti-slapp defense six months after the statute of limitations allowed and several years after the campaign in question.

I'm just saying it seems that the MSM keeps a lot of stuff under wraps, and not always for the other side.

9. Don't thank the MSM for any favors.

Regardless of how the court cases run, this will hit the front page of every paper the day after Hillary Clinton is nominated. It's all very convoluted. I'd be willing to stipulate that technically neither Clinton did anything illegal, but the entire affair looks bad. It would take some serious reading to sort out all the players and sort out what supposedly happened that was illegal. I would expect most people to chalk it up to the Clintons skirting the law again. Maybe this would make a difference in the election, maybe not. I sure hope it's out in the open before rather than after the primaries.
