DUBAI (Reuters) - Saddam Hussein has given his U.S. captors information on hidden weapons and as much as $40 billion he may have seized while he was Iraq's president, an Iraqi official was quoted as saying on Monday.

"Saddam has confessed the names of people he told to keep the money and he gave names of those who have information on equipment and weapons warehouses," Iyad Allawi, a member of the U.S.-appointed Iraqi Governing Council, told the London-based Asharq al-Awsat daily.

"Interrogators are now focusing on the relationship between him and terrorist organizations and on funds paid to groups outside Iraq," Allawi told the newspaper

1. Yes, indeed...while Saddam was hiding out in his rabbit-hole...
...he was in daily communication with all of his various contacts about his money and weapons.

Yeah...right.

Saddam will be lucky to remember his own name much less where his money was stashed prior/during/after the "coalition" invasion.

2. Saddam was using ESP to communicate with his followers
The Iraqi Governing Council is the biggest collection of idiots since the 2000 GOP Convention. I am surprised that Chalabi wasn't behind this crap.

BTW, why is this guy contradicting Rumsfeld's assertion that Saddam was not cooperating? Get your script right, guys!

3. >snip<
SEOUL, MADRID, LONDON, HOOTERVILLE (Rooters) - Based on tips from a cooperative and verbose Saddam Hussein, SWAT teams and Geraldo Rivera visited abandoned warehouses in several cities today and unearthed some interesting finds in the war on terror. (Yes, he can do that, so stop saying he wasn't there.)

"Using high-tech equipment, we found a handful of change and receipts for balsa wood and pizza at each location." Geraldo reported breathlessly.

Further evidence of terrorist connections and impending doom came in the form of empty mustard packets.

Hidden deep in the bottom of a file cabinet, a page of green stickers bearing the initials S&H were found. Also, due to a videotape found in the warehouse in Seoul, agents are now rounding up and questioning everyone named Debbie in Dallas.

"This, naturally, proves the tie-in between Saddam, Usama, anti-war protesters and Hank Kimble." smirked George Bush, Jr. while pinning a medal on Geraldo. "It also shows what a good job we are doing on the war on Terra. As the old saying goes - Proof is in the chocolate pudding."

4. Read this excerpt very CAREFULLY. Then tell me what you belive
Iraqi Governing Council has said.

Iyad Allawi, the head of the Iraqi National Accord, made the revelations to the Arab dailies Asharq Al-Awsat and Al-Hayat on Monday.

He said Saddam "has started to give information on Iraqi money that he invested abroad... which the Iraqi Governing Council estimates at $40 billion placed in Switzerland, Japan, and Germany among others, under fictitious company names."

He added that "Saddam Hussein's trial would not be public since he could name countries and persons whom he gave money".

Aljazeera.net contacted the US authorities in Baghdad to confirm Allawi's comments, but they would only say the former Iraqi president's interrogation is ongoing.

5. See...this is why Saddam is still alive
So he can "confess" to whatever we want him to and "tell" us whatever we might have found out elsewhere. :tinfoilhat:

11. I bet it was fairly hard to liquidate cash invested internationally...
thus I don't place much doubt on this figure. Now as to the weapons and such I'll believe it when I see it -- probably a just blender and toaster oven that could be transformed into a uranium enrichment plant!

12. LOL
When you have 40 billion, nothing is hard. Old P.T. Barnum was right when he said........"There's a sucker born every minute"........especially in the good ol' USA.

13. How much would you like to bet that Bush plants WMDs and then
digs up what he's planted the day before the 2004 election?

14. So can we have our $87 billion back?
Now that they've found all this money stashed away, the Iraqi people can rebuild Iraq themselves. Besides they could probably do it a tenth of what it will cost Halliburton to do nothing.

What this is is an example of mind-control IMHO.
