Rice raps Spain for 'hasty' Iraq pull-out
02/06/2007 - 08:44:34

Spain’s decision to pull its troops out of Iraq in 2004 was made hastily and without giving its allies time to prepare for it, US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice has said.

Rice was interviewed by Spain’s state television TVE at the US embassy in Madrid last night, at the end of her six-hour trip to Spain.

Earlier she had met King Juan Carlos, prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos.

Rice said that Iraq was and continued to be a very dangerous place, adding that US troops were facing danger at the time Zapatero withdrew the Spanish troops. She said the US should have been advised beforehand to prepare for such a move.

11. You beat me to it.
The U.S. knew FOR MONTHS that Spain was going to pull out its troops. In fact, it was Mr. Zapatero's campaign promise.

Guess what? It was enough to get him elected...(are they really that stupid in Washington?). He got his nomination. He fulfilled his promise. He pulled the Spanish troops out, and that was the end of the story.

Apparently not!

NOW watch CondaLiar blame Spain for the entire mess in Iraq.

6. She's quite the diplomat, isn't she?
The most incompetent Sec of State ever, plus...

People hate her so much everything she advocates is immediately on the world's shit list. So even if they were to ever come up with a decent idea (which hasn't happened to my recollection) she is such a horrible bitch and represents such horrible people other countries are loathe to participate to allow us success - lest they further embolden the neo-con crazies with a taste of actual success.

The world and two-thirds of this country just want them to go away so badly that every time they open their mouths to insult someone who didn't fall in line, the world's (and our) reasons for hating these incompetent thugs is laid bare.

What ever happened to all the Repug hype about wanting Condi to run for Pres in 2008? I thought she would be unbeatable. Now she just flits from country to country and no one pays any attention to her. Laura must have had her sent on the road permenently.

13. DEMOCRACY sure SUCKS, don't it, rice.
See, the Spanish people -97% of them- OPPOSED your bush-gawd's illegal war of aggression against the people of Iraq. But the Spanish government ignored the will of 97% of its own people -NOT democracy- and were then soundly defeated by the current Spanish government who promised the 97% of Spain they'd pull Spanish troops out of bush's illegal war & occupation.

The current Spanish government listened to the 97% will of their people and kept their word.

Rice again confirms the fact the bush regime & the Republic Party DON'T CARE about democracy; they care about total blind support for the US government.

DEMOCRACY SUCKS! whines rice.

Well, if you publish a timeline, you give away too much information. All the enemy has to do then is wait you out... That's been talking points for years now...

30. recall the election---Jr didn't think they would toss out the old pm!

....Zapatero pulled the troops out of Iraq a month after taking office in 2004. The war has been deeply unpopular in Spain, particularly after a terror attack by Islamic militants killed 191 people on Madrid commuter trains.

The militants said they targeted Spain because of its participation in the peacekeeping force in Iraq.
