'Credible' Threats Ground Six Flights
WASHINGTON - Air France canceled several flights to the United States after U.S. officials, on heightened alert for holiday terror attacks, passed on "credible" security threats involving passengers planning to fly from Paris to Los Angeles, U.S. and European officials said Wednesday.

Six flights scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday were canceled — three headed to Los Angeles, and the three return flights to Paris. U.S. officials have repeatedly warned that al-Qaida terrorists may be eyeing Los Angeles International Airport.

...

A spokesman for French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin said the decision to cancel the six Air France flights came early Wednesday after American authorities notified France that "two or three" suspicious people, possibly Tunisian nationals, were planning to board the flights.

The French Interior Ministry said the flights were canceled at the request of the U.S. Embassy in Paris. A spokesman for Raffarin said the United States had threatened to refuse the planes permission to land in Los Angeles if they took off

10. Well I'm way late getting into this...
The story hit when I was at work, and I got to hear about it on Faux News in the breakroom. The "fair and balanced" coverage just made me shake my head. After a few minutes I finally said out loud to everyone in earshot almost exactly the same thing radwriter0555 is saying and at least a couple of people looked my way and nodded as if in agreement.

It just couldn't be any more farking obvious, could it?

2. In a day or two, the Bushistas will come up with some story,
"terist attack thwarted by Intelligence sent directly from Jesus..." or something equally idiotic. Something like "French man detained at De Gaulle Airport, had explosive testicles."

5. Isn't it weird that Air France is being targeted...
It just keeps getting stranger. Dubya should mix it up a little to not make it look so contrived. People might catch on...

On second thought, no one's going to catch. Bush is going to manipulate the American people to such a degree that he'll def. get re-elected. I had hope but now I'm losing it....

12. Yes, it is weird...
...it's very weird that Air France is being targeted because, um, why the hell would terrorists want to blow up an Air France plane? France wouldn't even participate in Operation Iraqi Handjob. Oh, wait, I get it...the terrorists want to blow up Air France because of that country's recent decision not to allow girls to wear the Muslim veil in school. Yeah, that's the ticket!

It sounds to me like they want to scare the French into being a little more accomodating in their War on Terra. Could our country be any more of a bully?

When will I wake up from this nightmare?

6. Bush plants the seeds of "terror and fear",..
in the French citizens just as he did in America. Fear is a tool for manipulation in every control freak.

7. Eh, excuse me
BUT, if the "intelligence" was sooo F$$KING credible, wouldn't anybody with a sincere concern pull a sting operation and bag the "evil doers" once they were locked up onboard the airliner?... Either these people are just f$$king stupid or (most likely) lying sacks of SHIT determined on manipulating the media for their own selfish gain.... And remember our wonderful "free" press thrives on the drama, contrived or not... Merry Xmas 'Merica.

8. Ahhh, Yes The Faovrite Medai Buzzword Regarding These Propaganda Stunts
Edited on Thu Dec-25-03 12:04 AM by TheWatcher
"Credible" evidence......

Every single time this has happened over the past three years, it has always been based on "Credible" evidence... Yet we never find out where the evedience came from, or any deatils that shed light on the evidence's "Credibility".....For all we know Jesus appeared on a Lucky Charms Box and told Bush that there was going to be a suspiscious looking Goth on an Air France flight, and that was the "Credible" evidence.....

And like all the other "Credible" threats of the past three years, NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN.....

Nothing.....

This is so blatant and so contrived that it is becoming painful to watch.....People are truly living in a delusion, and being deluded by fear, propaganda, and manufactured threats.....

And still to this day, I wonder.....Where was all this urgency on 9/11?.....Where was all this urgency before 9/11?....What about all the "Credible" evidence that was ignored then?.....

America is being played like a fiddle.....

There is NO threat.....NOTHING is going to happen.....

And more and more every day, I'm becoming convinced the only real threat there is lies in our own back yard.....

I was talking with a friend today who is in law enforcement, and he saw all these riduculous headlines on my Computer Screen, and he muttered "There is no Al Queda....."

A dangerous thing to say in these times....

I was taken aback by that.....

But what's even more dangerous is.....

What if he's right?.....

26. What if, indeed.
Or how bout this... there really is an Al-Qaeda, but it was created by the CIA.

Or... 9/11 was used as an excuse to go after Al-Qaeda.

Speacking of 9/11, by the way, something about the Booker video rankles still. Bush never left, even after being told America isn't under attack, and even though his visit had been fairly publicized prior to it. Wasn't he putting all those little kids in danger by staying there in a previously known location, a place where everyone knew where he was?

It only makes sense if Bush knew those kids weren't in danger.

How did he know that? How was he so sure they were safe? Well, that's the $64,000 question, isn't it?

13. What if, they did not cancel the flights and something happened?
What would we say then? We would say that they knew about it and did nothing. You are damed if you do and damned if you do not.

15. This is precisely why you should not lie and cover up other things.
Who the f#ck knows when the * admin is legitimately concerned or blowing smoke to divert attention from a big story like mad cow disease, or jobs leaving for India or durable goods bad news?

If you compromise the confidence of people on WMD, Enron, Halibuton, felonies that aren't investigated adequately by DOJ, several false alarms on elevated terrorist alerts, unjustified wars, lack of concern for our soldiers, lack of attention to the economy, lack of concern for the environment, lack of concern for education, and on and on and on, than damned if you do and damned if you don't is the minimum the * admin should expect.

The story may well be true, and perhaps officials did have to make a tough call, but I am not sure whom to believe any more.

22. Didn't Sound Very Credible to Me
And I heard from the BBC as well as NPR what little has been told.
Credible threats are arrests and evidence. Anything else is economic terrorism, slander and libel
