GOP says Dayton (D-MN) should have voted as homeless person
http://www.startribune.com/stories/468/4000671.html

ST. PAUL - In an election fraud complaint, state Republicans allege that U.S. Sen. Mark Dayton should have voted as a homeless person last November because he had sold his Minneapolis mansion.

The GOP leaders contend Dayton, a Democrat, voted illegally in a precinct where he no longer resided. Because he had a post office box but no address in Minnesota, he should have voted under special procedures for the homeless, they say.

Dayton's spokeswoman, Sharon Ruhland, dismissed the accusations.

"It's absolutely, positively ridiculous," Ruhland said.

Think someone is looking to defelct attention from Timmy Pawlenty?

No only is the idea of wrongdoing crap on the surface, Dayton's attorney actually consulted Hennepin County Auditor Pat O'Connor before the 2002 election to determine where he should vote.

Dayton should feel honored. He is obviously getting under the skin of enough repugglies that they need to cause him trouble.

4. Is this a real story?
I mean, he was selling a home and planning on buying another home in THE SAME FREAKING STATE HE WAS REPRESENTING. I mean, we're not talking Mitt Rommey running for Governor of Massachusetts while being a residence of Utah here. We're talking a man who move just happened to occur during the elections.

People need to find new hobbies - take up knitting and stop nit-picking crap like this!

6. thats only for Al Gore librul
We patriotic republicans can have whatever we want let it be money, sex, drugs, wars, and corruption. Sarcaism off but on a serious note why do they get double standards. They can bash Clinton all the live long day for having an affair gasp what a shock not yet we cant even get on Bush for being a fool and more importantly lying to us. I have a regret though that I will miss the crazy RW GOP because they taught me and they dont know it the level of ignorance and how high in the public office they can it

9. Damn GOP!!!
They make a big deal over Clinton's personal life, they attack Hillary for having the last name Clinton and now this.
Speaking of one's residence, Why don't we talk about Governor 10 Wives Romney who has lived where ever he wanted for the past 20 years. Before his 2002 election he resided in Utah. So this brings me to my question for the Repugs: "Why the Hell is a resident of Utah the Governor of Massachussetts???"

10. Bush is having problems, Pawlenty is having problems

The repukes had to come up with something...And this appears to be their best shot.

Per the article in the paper, Mark had just sold his home in one area of Mpls and had not yet signed a lease on a downtown apartment (though the Repukes say he had plenty of time to do this.) Also, per the article, Mark had his attorney check with county to see if he could vote in the precinct his home had been in. The opinion was that a 1936 law made this legal.

We all know, if Mark had voted as a homeless person, they'd be making a stink about a DAYTON claiming to be homeless and speculating what kind of sneaky thing he was trying to pull.

Let's here it for Minnesota that it makes provisions for homeless people voting - though I suppose that will get changed if the Pukes have anything to say about it. I didn't know the state did that.
