No action against UK police who killed innocent man
Fri May 11, 2007 8:34AM EDT

By Tim Castle

LONDON (Reuters) - Eleven British police officers involved in the
fatal shooting of an innocent Brazilian in the mistaken belief he was
a suicide bomber will not face disciplinary action, a police watchdog
said on Friday.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said the
officers would not face a police tribunal over the July 22, 2005
killing of Jean Charles de Menezes.

Police officers, believing the 27-year-old electrician to be a suicide
bomber, shot him seven times in the head after he boarded a London
underground train.

The shooting came amid high tension in the capital over the threat
of suicide attacks. Just 15 days earlier, four British Islamists had
blown themselves up on underground trains and a bus, killing 52
people and wounding hundreds.

1. Opps! Killed an innocent victim... oh well.
1) What reason did they believe that he was a suicide bomber. Evidence?

2) If murder, even accidental murder, is not met with severe action then why would any British
officer care who he/she shoots?

I would severely distrust any and all police like this if I was a UK citizen.

Justice must be upheld for all: even those whose job it is to safeguard it.

another man(this time a real criminal) a few months ago. But I dont think a single person is responsible for the shooting, it was the shoot to kill fascist policy that was implemented by the London police and still defended by its chief after Menezes was killed.
This policy allows you to shoot a suspect without having irrefutable evidence. This makes the police no different from terrorists.
