Wal-Mart labels Boerne (TX) nuns a security threat
Source: KENS 5 Eyewitness News

It's a David versus Goliath battle heating up in the Hill Country — a group of nuns from Boerne is taking a stand against Wal-Mart.

The corporate giant reportedly labeled the nuns a security threat after they raised questions about Wal-Mart's business practices.

....

The sisters have raised questions on wages, human rights, health care and the pay disparity between CEOs and workers. They believe that's why Wal-Mart has launched a surveillance operation on the small church group.

"We wanted to find out more about what was actually happening, and did they do any surveillance on us, either personally or as a community, and to let us know what that would be, and to apologize to us," Sister Mika said.

9. I like Black-Mart Consulting
"Always low prices, always low ethics at your Black-Mart Super Security Center!"

"Watch out for falling ethics" :patriot:

(flag there only for the false patriotism they would exude...)

26. Eventually Wal-Mart's going to be using Blackwater's services.
Not to provide security for the stores and parking lots (what a crazy idea), but to make potential union organizers "disappear."

5. Good for the nuns: questioning social issues of the people and
maybe even accomplishing something through change of the system or getting people to pay attention to WalMart. Sounds like they were raised right, so to speak. And they'll leave the abortion fights to the priests.

11. I am very disturbed by the surveillance aspect of this story--
does this mean Wal Mart watched them while they were in the store or that Wal Mart had them under surveillance at the convent or while they did other activities?

12. "Wal-Mart has launched a surveillance operation" - that phrase alone
should send shivers down the spine and send red flags waving everywhere. Who the hell are THEY to "launch a surveillance operation"?

The nuns should immediately get an order of protection against Walmart and have charges of harassment and stalking filed.
