US Soldier Killed, Another Injured In Baghdad Outskirts

(RTTNews) - One US soldier was killed on Tuesday and another seriously wounded when their patrol came under intense fire in the southern outskirts of Baghdad, the US military reported Thursday.

The US military statement said that in the past few weeks, the patrol unit had conducted joint combing operations with Iraqi forces and detained 16 suspected insurgents and recovered several weapons caches, including improvised explosive device making materials. The US military has not identified the dead soldier.

BAGHDAD — A MND-B Soldier died when the patrol was attacked by small
arms fire in the southern outskirts of Baghdad April 3. The unit was conducting a
dismounted patrol when the attack occurred. One other Soldier was wounded in
the attack.

BAGHDAD – An MND-B Soldier died April 3 when a patrol was attacked with small arms fire in an eastern section of the Iraqi capital.

The unit was conducting a presence patrol in the area when the attack occurred.

No other Soldiers were wounded during the attack.

BAGHDAD A U-S soldier has been killed while patrolling Baghdad as part of the seven-week-old security crackdown.

The military says he was killed by small-arms fire in eastern Baghdad Tuesday.

Members of the unit conducting the patrol have found several small weapons and detained suspected militants during multiple operations in the past few weeks.

The military earlier announced two other U-S combat deaths that occurred Tuesday.

Military: two U.S. soldiers killed in roadside bomb attack
BAGHDAD (CNN) -- Two U.S. soldiers were killed and three were wounded Wednesday when a roadside bomb struck their patrol in the southern outskirts of Baghdad, the military said Thursday.

All five soldiers were assigned to Multi-National Division-Baghdad. In the past week, the unit has found three weapons caches and arrested three suspected insurgents during area raids, the military said.

The attack occurred while the soldiers were conducting a combat security patrol. No further information was immediately available.

More BAGHDAD, April 5 (Reuters) - Four American soldiers were killed in two separate attacks in and around the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Wednesday, the U.S. military said on Thursday.

The military said all four were killed by roadside bombs. The attacks follow a relatively quiet period in Baghdad, where U.S. and Iraqi forces have been deploying thousands more troops to enforce a new security crackdown.
