Tommy Thompson to run for president

Tommy Thompson to run for president 12 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson on Sunday joined the crowded field of Republicans running for the White House in 2008. "I am the reliable conservative," he asserted.

Thompson, who was health and human services secretary during President Bush's first term, also said he is the only GOP candidate who has helped assemble both a state and federal budget.

Since announcing last year he was forming a presidential exploratory committee to raise money and gauge support, Thompson has lagged behind better-known rivals.

Asked Sunday whether he was running for president, Thompson said, "That is correct."

1. With no clear front runner the third-tier candidates are creeping in
The only issue on which I agree with him is that midwestern cities should be linked by more regular passenger rail service.

In my mindf his only other asset is his bar operating brother who would be as much fun in the media as Billy Carter.

19. It remind me of the front page
in the Columbus Dispatch at the start of the '04 primaries. The article was talking about how many weak Dems were running with no clear front-runner. Hmmmmmmm.... I think I remember who one that election. If we don't screw this up, we can stick them pretty good.

5. Tommy was Gov of WI when my son suffered horrific malpractice in a state hospital
I would love to "help" his campaign by sharing the true story of his administrations care for sick and needy children. He is a complete P.O.S.--which I guess makes him a reliable conservative.

14. Sorry about your son's suffering.
Thompson would make a good sock-puppet; he shares that trait with King George.

6. Yeah, Toxic Tommy, the Polluter's Pal.
Only fitting he should announce on April Fool's day.

The good part is that he'll be out of Wisconsin a lot because of this. The bad part is he'll be somewhere else that probly did nothing to deserve him.
