Cheney: Congress should back Iraq plan..."on time and in full."
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney said Thursday night that a too-soon withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq could send victorious militants spreading out, with some flocking to Afghanistan to fight alongside a regrouping Taliban. He demanded that the Democratic-controlled Congress support President Bush's military buildup "on time and in full."

Speaking before a receptive audience of conservatives, the vice president - just back from a trip that included unannounced stops in Afghanistan and Pakistan - sharply criticized efforts by some Democrats to restrict funds for additional troops or to place restrictions on their deployment.

---

"I sincerely hope the discussion this time will be about winning in Iraq, not about posturing on Capitol Hill. Anyone can say they support the troops, and we should take them at their word. But the proof will come when it's time to provide the money and the support," Cheney said. "We expect the House and the Senate to meet those needs on time and in full."

---

"In these circumstances, it's worth reminding ourselves that, like it or not, the enemy we face in the war on terror has made Iraq the primary front in that war," he added. Then, to laughter and applause, Cheney said, "To use a popular phrase, this is an inconvenient truth."

It was a play on the Academy Award-winning environmental documentary featuring former Vice President Al Gore, "An Inconvenient Truth."

"If you support the war on terror, then it only makes sense to support it where the terrorists are fighting us," Cheney said.

4. the gal of that despicable war criminal
Iraq had nothing to do with his wet dream of a new Pearl Harbor

he planned to distribute the oil to his base by sending cannon-fodder to their unnecessary death and maiming

and now... he accuses "the enemy" (he funds...) of having made IraQNam the primary front in that war...

feels like the late '30s early '40s (pre-Nuremberg). :eyes:

Or Hali burton should. It's not like the money we gave them is going to go to something useful. Everyone in america can enjoy the delight of what it feels like to be pwned by a corporate raider. Fucking KILL your congressman! Kill your "I'm as much a victim here as you are." wining senator. I want want to see some feet kicking at the end of ropes. I want some of the TRAITORS swinging from a tree! Goddamn-it, If you work for Hali burton, you should have to use a green license plate, because you're a fucking predator! Would you let someone rape your kids? How about their future? Fuck them, fuck that, and fuck you all for not giving a shit when the government ass-rapes your kids future. Fucking predators can protect themselves. Your future is ruined. What we have is the opportunity to dish it out to the fucktards who feel it's their privilege to fuck us, as americans. Freedom means if the government kills your kids, you kill the government back!

12. Iraq 'inconvenient truth' of war on terror: Cheney
Why is it that everytime he speaks I want to vomit?

Iraq 'inconvenient truth' of war on terror: Cheney by Stephen Collinson
43 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US Vice President Dick Cheney told Democrats Thursday to stop "posturing" on Iraq, warning it was an "inconvenient truth" that the bloody conflict was the key front in the war on terror.

Cheney delighted core conservatives gathered in Washington for their annual conference, and upped the stakes in a political tug-of-war with Democrats, by referencing his predecessor Al Gore and Osama bin Laden in the same sentence.

A day after returning from a trip to Afghanistan that included a suicide bomb attack on a US base where he was staying, Cheney borrowed the title of Gore's Oscar-winning global warming documentary "An Inconvenient Truth."

"It is worth reminding ourselves, that like it or not, the enemy we face in the war on terror has made Iraq the primary front in that war," Cheney told delegates at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

"To use a popular phrase, this is an inconvenient truth: in Bin Laden's words, 'success in Baghdad will be success for the United States.'

14. No, Dick.....WE made Iraq the central front on terror...
Before we went in, it was a backwater, a sluggish slough of nothing until we opened it up to the foreign terrorists and released all of the sectarian tension that Saddam was keeping a lid on.

Can't even tell the truth when you're stretching your bullshit metaphors.

19. heh - Dick, listen up, when you utter the word "truth" - nearly everyone
rolls their eyes. Indeed it has come to the point that if *you* claim something, many people right away believe the opposite must be true.

25. This sentence is really idiotic, even for Cheney
He says, "If you support the war on terror, then it only makes sense to support it where the terrorists are fighting us," Cheney said.
Wow, what blazing insight, what a brilliant idea!:sarcasm: We took this war to Iraq. They were not the ones who attacked the WTC, and they don't want to follow us home and fight us here. They just want us to get the hell out of their country so they can go through the long, painful process of establishing their own government.

Al Qaeda is in Iraq now, where it wasn't before we invaded. Cheney probably holds the world's record for the most wrong predictions made by a public figure in the history of the United States. Nothing he has said has been right, but those 29% of Americans who still drink the Kool-aid still hang on his every word, and conveniently forget that he's been wrong about everything before. As many others have stated, the big winner in this whole mess is Iran.

Now, of course, Cheney, who has been wrong about everything, thinks the best thing to do is to invade Iran. Or nuke them, or whatever twisted thought comes from his twisted, evil mind. If Bush and Cheney are for something, we can be sure that it's a bad idea.
