South Dakota House approves money for free cervical cancer vaccine
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota House has approved a measure that would spend $9.2 million for a program that provides girls ages 11-18 with free vaccine that can prevent cervical cancer.

Representatives passed the bill 61-9 on Tuesday. It now goes to the Senate.

Gov. Mike Rounds announced the program in early January, but some lawmakers said they were worried it could cause girls to become sexually active.

Rep. Roger Hunt, R-Brandon, said he opposed the bill because the program does not provide women with enough information before they get the vaccinations and it does not include an adequate tracking system in case women develop problems after getting the vaccinations.

"The objective is sound, but I don't think we have adequately protected our women in this regard," Hunt said.

2. Why?
Hunt is right.

There should be a tracking system in place to monitor side-effects of a new vaccine when it is proposed to be used on such a wide scale.

3. Because he is almost certainly not motivated by any concern for women
