U.S. military: Iraqi lawmaker is U.S. Embassy bomber

A man sentenced to death in Kuwait for the 1983 bombings of the U.S. and French embassies now sits in Iraq's parliament as a member of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's ruling coalition, according to U.S. military intelligence.

Jamal Jafaar Mohammed's seat in parliament gives him immunity from prosecution, but Washington now says he supports Shiite insurgents and acts as an Iranian agent in Iraq.

Repeated efforts to reach Jamal Jafaar Mohammed for comment through the parliament, through the ruling Shiite Muslim coalition and the Badr Organization -- the Iranian-backed paramilitary organization he once led -- have been unsuccessful.

A Kuwaiti court sentenced Jamal Jafaar Mohammed to death in 1984 in the car bombings of the U.S. and French embassies the previous December, which killed five people and wounded 86.

He had fled the country by then, but Western intelligence agencies also accuse him of involvement in the hijacking of a Kuwaiti airliner in 1984 and the attempted assassination of a Kuwaiti prince.

1. Does this mean that our soldiers will die for this kind of
government? The people that have attacked us and plotted against us for over 20 years are now leading the country we are protecting with our military. More bush logic.

Does anyone realize that we are Not fighting terrorism? Our government tried to take over and control a country by force and now are stuck and have no idea how to get out gracefully, with a plan for helping the Iraqis financially and diplomatically to keep the chaos down while easing out. Maybe guard the borders. Hell anything but staying the course which is what bush is doing now. Our govt. has Iran on their "to do" list. More bush logic. We know he isn't capable of an intelligent thought.

Where are the dems that were going to put bush's feet to the fire? The ones that were going to change the direction of the war and our country. What occured in Congress today was just like a year ago. bush has won again...........

5. Answers
1. Yes

2. Yes, we realize that this farce was nothing more then an attempt at colonialism. There is no graceful way to get out of this, just like there is no graceful way to scrape the bottom of your shoe off after you step in a pile of dog excrement!

3. The Dem's are doing what they've gotten use to doing for the last 12 years, keeping their powder dry, and yes Bush has won again, and will continue to win as long as the Democrats fail to use the
power of the majority. At least it's something we're used to having, right?

2. "Al-Maliki's political party, Dawa, claimed responsibility for the Kuwait bombings"
That's the key sentence.
Al-Maliki's party admitted to be responsible for this bombing, but now it's blaming this guy, so that US military can claim to have presented "evidence" of Iranian involvement in the Iraq war.

4. All terrorists are equal but some are more equal than others
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_David_Hotel_bombing

The King David Hotel bombing (July 22, 1946) was a bombing attack against the British government of Palestine by members of Irgun — a militant Zionist organization.

The Irgun, dressed as Arabs, exploded a bomb at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, which had been the base for the British Secretariat, the military command and a branch of the Criminal Investigation Division (police). Ninety-one people were killed, most of them staff of the secretariat and the hotel<1>: 28 British, 41 Arab, 17 Jewish, and 5 other. Around 45 people were injured.

The attack was initially ordered by Menachem Begin, the head of the Irgun, who would later become Israeli Prime Minister. The attack was commanded by Yosef Avni and Yisrael Levi.

It's a good thing the US never supported the Begin government.

7. Iraqi lawmaker is U.S. Embassy bomber
Well isn't this a test of democracy;

Iraqi lawmaker is U.S. Embassy bomber
• Iraqi Parliament member convicted of bombing U.S., French embassies in '83
• Jamal Jafaar Mohammed's position gives him prosecutorial immunity
• He supports Shiite insurgents and acts as an Iranian agent in Iraq, D.C. says
• Mohammed is also accused of attempting to kill a Kuwaiti prince

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A man sentenced to death in Kuwait for the 1983 bombings of the U.S. and French embassies now sits in Iraq's parliament as a member of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's ruling coalition, according to U.S. military intelligence.

Do the wheels of justice eventually get greased after 25 years or is it only a case of history rewrite/revisionism ?

Countries against change in Iraq are "clones" - al-Maliki

Baghdad - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki accused neighbouring countries Tuesday of hindering political progress in Iraq and being afraid of 'freedom and democracy' that might spread.

Al-Maliki further described these countries as 'clones of the dictatorship' that used to rule Iraq.

Observers in the region believe al-Maliki was referring to Syria.

Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh had blamed the latest attacks in Iraq on Syria. A truck bomb killed at least 137 people and wounded more than 300 Saturday in central Baghdad's busy Sadriya market.

Iraq accused Syria of facilitating smuggling of weapons into Iraq and helping the entry of militants into Iraq.

Looks to me like they are afraid to let Syria help, they are trying to demonize it and are questioning the credibility of Assad. If any one's credibility should be questioned, it is Maliki's. This guy's (al-Maliki) credibility sucks -- I can't believe he has a man sentenced to die for his involvement in the attacks on the US embassy working in the government.

15. He has parliamentary immunity unless we share intelligence on him?
"Al-Maliki has urged American intelligence officials to share their information with Iraqi lawmakers, who could strip Jamal Jafaar Mohammed of his parliamentary immunity."

So what's Kuwaiti justice, dear PM, chopped liver?

What a SCREW-UP. :grr:
