Libby seeks jurors who trust Cheney
WASHINGTON - Former White House aide "Scooter" Libby is looking for potential jurors who trust Vice President Dick Cheney.

Cheney's credibility has emerged as a key issue in the jury selection phase of the CIA leak trial. He is expected to be called as a witness on behalf of his former chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby, who is accused of lying to investigators about his conversations with journalists regarding an outed CIA officer.

Libby's attorneys say it's critical they know whether potential jurors view the vice president as credible. Two people who expressed doubts about that were dismissed from the jury pool Tuesday.

My god, will they be able to seat a jury? Even people who still, improbably, like Bush cringe at Cheney.

1. So who's he going to find?
Corporate whores or members of that 30% crowd of Bushlickers who would believe farts were made of candy if the Shrubmonkey told them?

2. Good luck with that....
so..........they're looking for freepers and freepers only then. Anyone else with a pulse and a few dozen functioning brain cells knows Cheney is evil incarnate.

CNN Poll conducted by Opinion Research Corporation. Dec. 15-17, 2006. N=1,019 adults nationwide. MoE ± 3.

"Do you approve or disapprove of the way Dick Cheney is handling his job as vice president?"

They're going to have a tough time seating a jury. The prosecution isn't going to seat freepers and the defense isn't going to seat anyone with a functioning brain. This trial has farce written all over it already.

5. here's partial list of the questions
~snip~

Do any of you have feelings or opinions about the Bush administration or any of its policies or actions, whether positive or negative, that might affect your ability to give a former member of the Bush administration a fair trial?

• Would the fact that former or present members of the Bush administration will be witnesses in this case impair your ability to be a totally fair and impartial juror?

• Would any of you have any difficulty fairly judging the believability of former or present members of the Bush administration?

• Do any of you have any feelings or opinions about Vice President Cheney, whether positive or negative, that might affect your ability to fairly judge Vice President Cheney's believability?

• Several witnesses who will testify in this case are members of the news media. Would any of you have any difficulty fairly judging the believability of a person who is a member of the news media?

6. Big deal, Fitzgerald is looking for jurors
who do not trust or distrust Cheney.

Good luck finding anyone that satisfies both sides.

Funny, how Team Libby seems to focus on all the wrong things. The trial isn't about Cheney, at least not yet.

10. It will take 10 years to pick a jury.
They are going to have to wait until some 8 years olds grow up.

They would have to grow up, and go senile.

11. I don't think that either side gets unlimited challenges
to seating jurors. Certainly 'not finding Cheney credible' has to use up a preemptory challenge, and they only get so many of those.

14. Well, it's understandable that attorneys defending Libby would want ...
jurors with mental defects.
