Military: 2 U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iraq
Two American soldiers were killed in separate incidents in Baghdad and western Iraq, the U.S. military said Sunday.

One soldier died Saturday from small arms fire in a southwestern section of Baghdad, the military said in a statement. Another soldier died Friday from combat wounds sustained in Iraq's volatile western Anbar province.

Both names were withheld pending family notification.

2. Every unnecessary death (like this) is a travesty.......
....and America barely knows your name/your face. You come back to the US (Dover AFB) under the cover of the night.

I want to know your name/what your face looked like. I care about you/your life (even though I didn't know you personally)....and you (or my evil pResident) can't stop me from loving/caring/wondering about you....and what you might have been.

Peace Soldier...there doesn't seem to be much on Earth, but hopefully in heaven (where you are),

3. Our news in Anchorage reported on a locally based soldier dying Friday..
I'm not sure if his fatality has been included yet at http://icasualties.org/oif/ yet? He died yesterday after being flown to a hospital in Germany a week ago.

Anchorage, Alaska - Family members had hoped and prayed for a miracle in the life of Army Spc. Jeremiah Johnson. Tonight, they are coping with the paratrooper's death.

Johnson is the 12th soldier from Fort Richardson to die in Iraq in less than a month.

Johnson e-mailed a video home from Iraq three days before Christmas. He tells his children -- 2-year-old daughter Rya and 4-year-old son Isaiah -- that he loves them and misses them.
