US judge rejects Iraq war veteran's lawsuit over 'Fahrenheit 9/11'
The Associated PressPublished: December 20, 2006

BOSTON: A U.S. judge on Wednesday threw out a lawsuit filed by an Iraq war veteran who claimed filmmaker Michael Moore used a clip from a television interview without his permission to falsely portray him as anti-war in the documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11."

Sgt. Peter Damon, a National Guardsman from Middleborough, had filed a $85 million (€64 million) lawsuit claiming "loss of reputation, emotional distress, embarrassment, and personal humiliation" due to his appearance in Moore's scathing 2004 documentary criticizing the Bush administration and the war in Iraq.

Damon, 34, who lost his arms when a tire on a Black Hawk helicopter exploded while he and another reservist were servicing the aircraft, claimed that Moore never asked for his consent to use a clip from an interview he did with NBC's "Nightly News."

But a lawyer for Moore argued in court Wednesday that the film did not attribute any political viewpoint to Damon and did not defame him.

of duty on 9/11.

Commander AWOL and his republicon cabal failed miserably that day.

Shame on them. The world knows. The corporate media won't acknowledge it.

But the world knows how badly AWOL & cronies screwed up.

2. The guy wanted $$$
Glad the judge saw through it.

"'It doesn't seem to me to be in any way an endorsement of the thrust of what the movie was about,' Woodlock said, adding that the First Amendment gives Moore wide leeway in expressing his political opinion in his films."

4. Your Newsweek cover reminded me of the Time cover I saw yesterday in the doctor's office...

It was dated November 6, 2006, the day before the elections. Inside articles were scathing about Bush & his Republican rubberstamping Congress. Most interesting, though, was reading about the what-if's in regard to the mid-term elections.

3. Here's the real ironic part
"He said while at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center recovering from his wounds, he had surgery and physical therapy, learned to use prosthetics and live independently. He also said that Homes For Our Troops, a not-for-profit group, built him a house with handicapped accessibility."

Michael Moore is a big supporter of Homes For Our Troops and encourages everyone to donate to the organization.

Okay, I've seen the film! How can I help The Soldiers?

Homes For Our Troops
Their mission is to build specially adapted homes for our severely disabled soldiers and their families. Since they started this organization, they have had an outpouring of support from all across America including monetary donations, donations of building materials and equipment, and fundraisers being hosted in their benefit.
