Police Say Mother Microwaved Her Baby
as a survivor of child abuse myself ...this woman is worse than anything I could have ever imagined.

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -

A mother was arrested on suspicion of murdering her newborn daughter by microwaving the baby in an oven. China Arnold, 26, was jailed Monday on a charge of aggravated murder, more than a year after she brought her dead month-old baby to a hospital. Bail was set Tuesday at $1 million.

"We have reason to believe, and we have some forensic evidence that is consistent with our belief, that a microwave oven was used in this death," said Ken Betz, director of the Montgomery County coroner's office.

He said the evidence included high-heat internal injuries and the absence of external burn marks on the baby, Paris Talley.

Arnold was arrested soon after the baby's death in August 2005, then was released while authorities investigated further. Betz said the case was difficult because "there is not a lot of scientific research and data on the effect of microwaves on human beings."

2. God I don't know why I clicked on this message. I really don't.
But I did. There isn't an English word for the shudder that goes through you when you read something like this.

I am an athiest but it's times like this that I really hope there is a heaven, where the innocent will forever be protected. And a hell where the guilty will be punished. (shudder)

10. I passed on clicking on the headline all day
Wished I hadn't clicked on this link. It makes me wonder...why? Mental illness...drug abuse...Why?

I had at least hoped the death was painless, the least a tiny one could be subjected to. Now, I find out it was far from painless.

We need to find the root problems and address those areas. If punishment was a viable alternative and detriment, there would be no murders, since we passed laws against murder.

This is a society screaming for help. And it doesn't come in the form of tax cuts to the rich.

9. Me too.
I'd rather be a house cat. They don't do this kind of shit to their babies.

11. reminds me of this in the morning paper
Pig eats three-year-old boy in Delhi
http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1855277,000600010001.htm

A three-year-old boy was eaten alive by a herd of pigs in a village near Samaipur Badli in north-west Delhi on Tuesday. Ajay had left his lunch and strayed from his home to a nearby ground.

Lal Bahadur, the child's uncle, said: "We were all having lunch inside the house and did not realise that Ajay had walked out. A few minutes later, his mother Mamta noticed a few pigs chewing something." Moving closer, she spotted a piece of cloth and realised the animals were feeding on her child's remains.

The hysterical mother threw stones at the herd, but the animals tried to attack her. Mamta's screams alerted the villagers, who rushed to the spot.

Ajay's skull, eyes, face and torso had been ripped open and eaten. Only his limbs could be recovered.

5. I have had horrid dreams of a baby put on microwave by a mother.
Edited on Tue Nov-28-06 10:09 PM by AlamoDemoc
I recall reading story while long ago; "mother put baby in the microwave instead of the milky bottle"….that story still rings on my mind, even though it has been many years ago. It was a very sad circumstance.

7. Remember in the movie Heat
with Pachino and Val Kilmer...etc, Al comes home to his wife and yells at her for not talking about his day because he didn't want to tell her about how some druggy microwaved her baby. Back then I thought that was unreal. Now i don't freaking sick.

8. The science behind this
feaks me out. Microwaves wouldn't necessarilly be that good at killing. Microwaves would cause nausea and vomiting long before they would cause hyperthermia. what I am trying to say is this would be one of the worst ways to die.

12. Unbelievable comment
<<Arnold was arrested soon after the baby's death in August 2005, then was released while authorities investigated further. Betz said the case was difficult because "there is not a lot of scientific research and data on the effect of microwaves on human beings."<<

I don't think it would be much of a stretch to assume that the effects on a human would basically be the same as that of a piece of meat put into a microwave -- i.e., cooked.

Hanging my head in shame, as I am from Dayton.
