al-qaida claimed in a new audio tape Friday to be winning the war faster than expected in Iraq, saying it had mobilized 12,000 fighters.

right on schedule..........

snip

The group also said it welcomed the Republican electoral defeat that led to the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, and it added that its fighters would not rest until they had blown up the White House.

Abu Ayyub al-Masri, also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also urged the U.S. to stay in Iraq so his group would have more opportunities to kill American troops.

If true.

I'm not inclined to take what a spokesman for Osama says any more seriously than what a spokesman for Bush says.

we'll just make another one. a nicer one. you're being goofy. if you really cared about your people, you'd figure out how to make the most efficient alternative energy systems ever created, sell them to us, and we'd completely lose interest in your part of the world.

OMG!!! It's war !!!!

Audio tape anonymously placed on the internet!!

They want to destroy America just like they want to destroy Israel!!! Help Help

Surely our response to this 'war' of our very being, requires not ONLY a complete re-thinking of our constitutional rights, but should include an entire redeployment of all western foreign policy objectives, immediately!!!

A special emergency session of the security council is in order!!!

My god, some of the world's poorest people are out to get us?

Will we, as a People, survive?

(I guess I better put up that little :sarcasm: thingy up-- some people still believe this shit.)

I guess there are only 11,999 out to get us, now ;-)

19. Al-Qaida in Iraq is not Al-Qaida.

Al-Qaida in Iraq is not the Al-Qaida group that attacked us on 9/11.

Each group is independent and have their own agenda. Al-Qaida in Iraq wasn't a problem for us until
we started occupying Iraq.

20. Leader of al-Qaida in Iraq Mocks Bush
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 06:29 PM by Rocknrule
http://www.comcast.net/news/index.jsp?cat=GENERAL&fn=/2006/11/10/518192.html&cvqh=itn_alqaida

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A new recording Friday attributed to the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq mocked President Bush as a coward whose conduct of the war was rejected at the polls, challenging him to keep U.S. troops in the country to face more bloodshed.

"We haven't had enough of your blood yet," taunted terror chieftain Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, identified as the speaker on the tape.

He gloated over Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld's resignation, claimed to have 12,000 fighters under his command who "have vowed to die for God's sake," and said his fighters will not rest until they blow up the White House and occupy Jerusalem.

It was impossible to verify the authenticity of the 20-minute recording, posted on a Web site used by Islamic militants. The CIA said technical analysis was being conducted on the tape...

30. Here's a couple.
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 07:31 PM by pauldp
The WSJ also reported this:
911 funds came from Pakistani intelligence.
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/cms.dll/html/uncomp/articleshow?msid=107432

"UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) paper says Pakistan's intelligence service, ISI, backs terrorism by supporting religious parties in the country."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/5387344.stm

Pakistan bribes the 911 Commisssion:
http://www.telegraphindia.com/1060313/asp/nation/story_5962372.asp

That's just scratching the surface. Just a theory, yes, but
more than enough evidence exists to warrant a thorough investigation of the ISI's connection to
Al Qaeda and CIA support and funding of the ISI.

Osama Bin Laden, trained by the CIA, worked with the ISI to bring Mujaheddin fighters to Afghanistan in the late '80s for America's proxy guerilla war against the Russian occupation. The operation at the time was known as "The Base," English translation for the Arabic "Al Qaeda."

28. Of course
Americans will fall for this rhetoric. The right will be screaming "they're out to kill us all! We need to nuke 'em (go read freeperville if you doubt this.)

Me, I think this is the equivelant of playground taunts of "your mother wears combat boots!"

Rhetoric is just that, rhetoric. Sure they may be willing to fight to the death to get invaders out of their country, but so would I. The whole "we're going to blow up the whitehouse and occupy jerusalem" is rhetoric with no basis in reality.

Sheesh. Americans, or at least the cowardly ones, will fall for it though. Hasn't anyone ever heard the saying, "IED's and RPG's will break your bones but words will never hurt you."

29. Essentially rhetoric has a root in fear.
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 07:24 PM by jayctravis
Just like we have people in this country who don't take much rilin' up to convince them it would be fun to lynch a couple of minorities, there are people in other countries who are as easily manipulated by fundamentalism which is not the entire of Islam.

It takes a much stronger entity to back down and say, "Okay, what is your deal? You've obviously got some grievances so let's hear them." The Bush Cabal don't negotiate with no terrarists, but it would be interesting to hear from them *why* they feel America needs to be punished with terrorist attacks.

Just a thought.

32. This is a smart tactic by a guerilla enemy
Emasculate the President when moderation in the populace of the attacking country happens. It will provoke a tough guy response from many moderates, and shift public perception back towards a 'stay the course' mentality, so we will keep shredding our fortune and our children for no reason.

It may politically keep us from being able to withdraw quickly because the public perception would be that we are running.

Also telling is that only a force that is winning taunts the superpower. Someone being defeated would be buoyed by the news of the attacking country's population losing its appetite for kicking your ass, and would not be inclined to try to provoke them into continuing to kill you. In short, this shows they are winning and wish to continue to slaughter us and impoverish our treasury.

Are we stupid enough to fall for it? I dread we are.

Al-Muhajir became the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. airstrike in June.

The tape could not be independently verified.
