POSTED: 10:39 am EDT October 26, 2006
UPDATED: 1:39 pm EDT October 26, 2006

WASHINGTON -- More packaged salads made by a West Virginia company are being recalled in states including Ohio because of possible contamination.

The government said containers of macaroni salad, sweet slaw and cole slaw produced by Ballard's Farm Sausage may be contaminated with bacteria that can cause serious or fatal infections in young children or senior citizens.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said consumers should take the products back to the store for a refund.

The affected products include Ballard's Farm 24-ounce Amish macaroni salad, Ballard Farm's 24-ounce Amish sweet slaw, Ballard's Farm 12-ounce cole slaw and Food City 12-ounce cole slaw.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- More packaged salads made by a West Virginia company are being recalled in 18 states -- including Virginia -- because of possible contamination.

The government says containers of macaroni salad, sweet slaw and cole slaw produced by Ballard's Farm Sausage may be contaminated
with bacteria that can cause serious or fatal infections in young children or the elderly. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says consumers should take the products back to the store for a refund.

The affected products include Ballard's Farm 24-ounce Amish macaroni salad, Ballard Farm's 24-ounce Amish sweet slaw, Ballard's Farm 12-ounce cole slaw and Food City 12-ounce cole slaw.

The company had already recalled Ballard's egg salad a few days ago.
