Top aides to Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) are expected to testify this week in the House Ethics Committee investigation of the Foley page scandal. Hastert may also appear, according to Chicago Sun-Times political reporter Lynn Sweet.

The investigation of how the Republican leadership handled the issue has provoked turmoil and finger-pointing in Hastert's office, congressional sources say.

(Says many of his top aids have hired their own legal representation.)

What difference does it make if the Speaker learned of this in November of '05 or March of '02? He still covered it up after learning of it - whether it was for 3 years or just one. How is it better, except in the eyes of Spinpublicans, if he covered it up only for one year instead of for three?

I thought that John Boehner was to have testified last week. Did he do so?

And more importantly, is John Boehner to testify under oath as the staffers all have?

And also, shouldn't pressure be made to ask if Hastert will also "be under oath" when he testifies since he disputes the charges by staffers?

answering those questions. Cheney, Bush and Condi all managed not to have to be under oath..so I wonder if Boehner and Hastert would request the same. Maybe someone here has heard more.
