Scandals stymie W's momentum (NY Daily News)
Scandals stymie W's momentum

BY THOMAS M. DeFRANK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU CHIEF

WASHINGTON - Suddenly, like the fierce "blue northers" that sweep across Texas each autumn, the political winds have turned bleaker for Republicans - and President Bush's private mood has blackened accordingly.

Just two weeks ago, as gasoline prices plummeted and his tough-talking terror counterattack began moving poll numbers his way, Bush turned bullish on the November elections.

"He's on scent and he's driving hard," a longtime political confidant of the President reported early this month. "He's got the microphone and thinks he's controlling the political debate."

First Lady Laura Bush, who is even more in demand than her husband on the political stump this cycle, also was telling aides she thought the tide had finally turned.

Now, however, friends, aides and close political allies tell the Daily News Bush is furious with his own side for helping create a political downdraft that has blunted his momentum and endangered GOP prospects for keeping control of Congress next month.

-snip-

Yeah .... I know it's from the Daily News, but DAMN it just seems so right to see George feel some of the pain he deserves .... He should be awake nights, fearing the reaper, but the heartless ass sleeps like a baby ....

1. Laura's right!
The tide is turning... against the Bush Administration and his aiders and abettors in Congress.

Forget the impeachment and the investigations. Think Bush will be using his veto pen a lot in the next two years?

And every veto will be provide a Democratic ad in 2008.

25. There NEVER Was Any Momentum They Were Setting Up The Theft
The BULLSHIT media were circling the wagons talking about this amazing momentum so the theft of the mid term would be a bit less of a :wtf: moment. They did it in 2004 with all the "these races are too close to call" horse shit.

Then Foley came along and well the rest is history.

4. That "scent" he was on was the stench of the most corrupt
administration in American history. It is no surprise that Little George would blame every one but himself. His post 9/11 bump was slavishly reported by his buddies in the media but it was destined to quickly diminish as the realities of Iraq reasserted themselves on the national consciousness. It is true that the Foley/Hastert/Reynolds/Boehner scandal has exacerbated their problems. But make no mistake, this President and his criminal party are headed for trash heap of history largely due to his choices not because a Florida Congressman could not control his impulses.

12. Bush is furious....or Bush is mad.

How long before the public unraveling we've been waiting for. What I'm waiting for is the television speech where he accuses everyone - including Laura - of colluding against him to help the terraists. The man is a paranoid schizophrenic. It'll come out soon. Maybe shortly after he loses congress.

15. "bush's momentum" was only
in his mind.."stay the course" blah, blah.

It's not just "the grand ol' poofsters", it's Woodward's revelations(that we all knew)in his latest book and not only did bush sit reading "my pet goat" or whose ever pet goat is was but the bushits knew before 9/11 that there was a very strong chance that there would be devasting strikes on US soil. So what did the bushits do? Give the taliban $43 Million? Besides that I mean?

And what the ol' sourpuss means by "the tide turning" is that the public has finally caught on to all their harmful lies and BULLSHIT! Yeah, cheney, you are the BULLSHIT.

Disband the strike force waiting around the clock to hit Bin Laden? Close the military intelligence project Able Danger that was gathering information on al-Qaeda? Refuse to implement the international initiative to freeze terrorist financing that the Clinton administration had set up?

Oh, but they did all that stuff in their first two months in office...it's not like they could have expected anything would happen.
