Ex-Rep. Cunningham lashes out in letter
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061007/ap_on_re_us/congres...

SAN DIEGO - Disgraced former congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham lashed out at the reporter who uncovered the corruption scandal that sent him to prison, telling him in a letter that his "constant cruelty" had nearly destroyed Cunningham's life.

The former Navy "Top Gun" pilot also blasted defense contractor Mitchell Wade, who helped implicate him to authorities.

"Wade is the absolute devil," Cunningham wrote in the four-page, handwritten letter, excerpts of which were published Saturday on the San Diego Union-Tribune's Web site

I'm surprised he didn't have any Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean references in the letter. No one forced you to do the crime, Duke. You destroyed your own life.

8. Here's his concluding words:
>
>
"I hurt more than anyone could imagine and without my faith your constant cruelty would destroy me," Cunningham wrote.

The Republican, who held seats on powerful House intelligence and appropriations committees, admitted last November that he accepted $2.4 million in bribes from defense contractors in exchange for government contracts and other favors.

Among other things, Wade said he gave Cunningham expensive rugs, furniture and jewelry, as well as cash, in exchange for support for his company's efforts to win defense contracts.

"I should have said no to the gifts. For that, I am truly sorry," Cunningham wrote.

Cunningham was sentenced in March to more than eight years in federal prison and is being housed at a low-security correctional center in North Carolina.

"Each time you print it hurts my family and now I have lost them along with everything I have worked for during my 64 years of life," Cunningham wrote. "I am human not an animal to keep whipping."

By now, it's no longer surprising to see those once arrogant blusterers, turn into whining "victims".

9. What a Gutless Piece of Crap
An adult, male or female, realizes when they've broken the law, then been caught, that they have to face reality. It sucks, and it's hard -- but it's adult.

This Cunningham is not an adult. This is a self-centered child.

Any parent knows exactly what I mean. What arrogance! What a sniveling little boy!

11. I think you nailed it precisely.
The sort of creep who is attracted to the publiclown philosophy is very simply someone who, for whatever reason-or no reason at all-, has never matured into normal adult thinking. Simple answers tend to be too simplistic to offer any real insight into a problem, but, in this case, it fits with virtually every republicriminal action or arguement, from boorish booosh right on down the line.

Listening to cspan's WJ for a few sessions really pulls it together. These crooks are juvenile dilinquents, even at sixty four years of chronological age.

All Fauxsnooze "personalities"
All winger judicial nominees
Pat Buchannon-he's JD and nuts
NoMoJoe Mentum-JD with a thin, easily shattered, veneer of social gennteel-ity
Cheney-can't ever admit truth or culpability and thinks it is the most normal thing in the world that his victim, whose face he blasted away, should apologize to him
Hitler
Felix Allen-whose reaction, in the face of his reported anti-semitic ejaculations, I would love to see when he finds out that not only is his mother jewish, but his father is half Haitian
Every poster on creep republic
Ahnold Schwartzenegger-actually quite liberal minded but is so JD he thinks he's a republiclown-and tries to prove it!

10. Oh my, Mr. C, how republican of you.
I'm obese and it's all McDonald's fault, because they forced me to eat all those *+!!^& big macs and fries.

It's the woman's fault I'm a rapist because she made herself so attractive to tempt me.

It's Saddam's fault I had to kill upwards of a quarter million people, because he sucked me in with all that beautiful oil.

It is just possible that "Duke" could plead diminished capacity-his brain has to be twisted in order to wrap itself around such torturous logic.

I am continually amazed that publiclowns don't laugh themselves to death at the impossible irony contained in their own thought processes. And these murderous fools don't even see the joke. They are flippin' crazy and can't recognize their insanity and inanity nor the same condition in their fellow rubber room pretenders.

31. GOP: Gang Of Psychopaths.
They take no responsibility for their actions. Rather than feel remorse for their crimes and perversions, they blame the people that catch them at their respective anti-social behavior(s).

To a republican, their crime is not in their rapes, murders, or thefts.

In their minds, their only crime is in getting caught.

They are all corrupt.

34. A history of sleaze.
" Duke Cunningham is a hero. He is an honorable man of high integrity."

- Tom DeLay, press briefing, June 14, 2005

Cunningham recently told the Washington Post that Democrats blunting Republican legislation "ought to be lined up and shot. I’m talking about the liberal leadership."

May 11, 1995

A House debate over water pollution erupts in furor when Cunningham declares that lawmakers backing an amendment he opposes are the same people who support "homos in the military." Later, he tells Rep. Pat Schroeder, D-Colo., "Sit down, you socialist!"

37. I like the way that the Tribune tries to take credit for the story...
Without much credit directly given to the reporter who seemed more singularily responsible for getting this Pulitzer winning piece out. Still hear an ad on KLSD periodically where the Union Tribune tries to claim to be a good "watchdog" for us getting the info to us when they were the ones that had endorsed Cunningham earlier and Bilbray more recently. I think more credit is due to the reporter than the parent newspaper for this story getting out.

Also Dukestir... Wade will be going to the big house soon too! And he might get a "better deal" by finking on you. Why aren't you cooperating and helping bringing down some of the other criminals out there that are rumored to still be being under investigation ( Katherine Harris?, Duncan Hunter?, Brent Wilkes?, etc. ). Perhaps you'd still be getting a better deal if you were more willing to do that!

Speaking of Brent Wilkes, I think he's going broke too now. Check out these stories...

http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2006/10/05/news/sandieg...

http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/education/20060929-9...

Sounds like Wilkes is getting ready for some heavy legal fees, etc. We've not heard the end of this yet, and other people are going to be made to pay too Duke. Not just you!

I just hope that someone can find out what they have on Duncan Hunter now. I've heard rumors that he has a pending indictment coming, but they are currently looking to delay making it until after the November election and have a special election instead of forcing the Republicans to deal with him having to resign beforehand (ala Foley). With the likes of Mikel Haas running special elections around here, we really really don't want that put off to a special election!

You sold your office (and your constituent's rights) for bribes, and you were bad at it.

You directed resources to stupid programs with poor companies, money which could have gone to better body armor, more Humvee protection, more linguists, etc, etc.

Die in prison.

And scream louder. A corrupt, jailed, yet incorrigible GOP member is good for us in November.
