Dems Say GOP Exploiting 9 - 11 Attacks
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

BOSTON (AP) -- Democratic leaders accused Republicans on Thursday of exploiting Sept. 11 by holding their presidential convention in New York less than two weeks before the third anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

``All indications are that the Republicans have gone to New York to exploit a terrible moment in our country,'' Rod O'Connor, chief executive officer of the Democratic National Convention Committee, told hundreds of journalists who came to tour the site of next summer's convention. ``We are here to re-ignite a movement in our country.''

2. They should make a point of noting
that the plans were made when W was still riding high in the polls as the great avenger. It was only after reality set in that the cruise ship idea was floated.

3. Well...obviously
Did the Dems think for the past few months that the GOP honestly wanted to have their convention a month later in NYC?

4. This could be an exciting convetion. Since they picked NY
the folks in NY have found out how little money they will get to rebuild and they found out that the government lied to them about how safe the air was. My bet is that if there is a "terrorist attack", it will be in NY before the convention so they can move it somewhere else.

5. Golly- if they keep this up, the DEMS might ask them to stop being mean...
DEMS are always accusing the pukes of "being mean" and "not playing fair", but never doing anything about it...

Dont just accuse them of exploiting 9/11- give examples of how they failed or lied about 9/11/...

8. I agree, if Repuks want to exploit 9-11, Dems should make them
regret ever wanting to go there. Plenty of fodder in the 9-11. Not being open with the investigation, how much they knew before it happened, where's Osama, Saddam, WMD, world is NOT as safer place (but we are much poorer), etc, etc, etc,

You know, when I was one time campaigning in Chicago, a reporter said, would you ever have a deficit? And I said, I can't imagine it, but there would be one if we had a war, or a national emergency, or a recession. (Laughter.) Never did I dream we'd get the trifecta. (Laughter.)

11. Finally.
Jesus. I was wondering when they were going to make an issue of this. I have heard people say that it was "smart" for the GOP to do this. I have always thought that it was dumb.

I remember some candidate campaigning at a Santa Clause Parade in my hometown and people were furious enough that he had to apologize. Can you imagine trying to score political points for what happened on September 11. As if to say that September 11th was the best thing that happened to the GOP.

Incredible.
