General Wesley Clark Assails Bush on Record Troop Mobilization
General Wesley Clark Assails Bush on Record Troop Mobilization
http://Clark04.com/press/release/100/
This weekend, more than 500 members of three New Hampshire National Guard units received mobilization orders -- the largest mobilization of New Hampshire units since the end of World War II. This is one record we shouldn't try to break. Once again, the Administration shows it is moving in the wrong direction in Iraq.

"How can this Administration continue sending more American men and women to Iraq when they still don't have a plan to get our troops out?" said General Clark. "The White House cannot balance this war on the backs of our reservists and National Guard troops. We need a strategy to clean up the mess in Iraq. Mr. Bush does not have one. I do."

1. Amen Gen Clark!
Bullseye! Shrub will continue to lose the Reservist and Guardsmen and their families the longer his stupidity reigns. Reserve/Guard families are losing big time across the board. Stop-loss measures RUmmy and crowd have instigated will only further reduce morale in the ranks and with the families of those deployed. Imagine being a serviceman/woman who has been to Kosovo/Afghanistan/Iraq/Horn of Africa, served their time, recently returned home to get on with their life, to have their unit receive mobilization orders for the next hot spot that needs their units service Iraq/Kosovo/Afghanistan etc.....That's what's happening out there in the Reserves and National Guard. Thanks for NOTHING Shrub! GO CLARK!

4. I hope Clark continues to publicly send this message, and I hope that...
...the media will start to ramp up the reporting of his comments.

6. Clark is going to get a lot of swing voters
...with this approach if he gets the candidacy. A lot of republican conservatives and veterans don't like the way the military is being so cavalierly manipulated in what is for all practical purposes an ignorant and incompetent strategy.

One a week like this from Wes (or Howard, Dennis etc), and we'll get Bush where we want him.

8. The deployment of the Reservist and the Guard units
will help Clark in the primaries, I wish that they didn't have to go but I think many voters will look at Clark as the most logical candidate to get them out of Iraq. God Bless the families of the men and women who have to go and of course the reservist and guard members themselves.

9. Well, Clark's very own "exit strategy" calls for more troops ...
"Consider adding troops. General Clark will look at whether adding forces will help the effort in Iraq. He will not measure success in Iraq by a reduction in troops or failure by an increase. It's more important to do the job right so all the troops can come home sooner."

10. You will note that he said...
how can Bush just send troops without a plan or exit strategy. My take on this statement is his criticism of just sending in troops. Has no bearing on not sending more troops at all.

This is a very important distinction.

15. Yes it does..
and that is not what he was talking about.

You knew that.

Clark has a way out..Bush does not. That is what he was talking about.

You knew that.

You can spin for Dean, Bush ..whatever. It will not work.

11. The biggest difference between Clark and Bush re Iraq =
Clark gives a damn about people and our troops. Bush launched a needless war without concern for the inevitable misery and death it would cause. We have a sociopath as President right now, and IMHO, the danger has just begun. This regime is ruthless, and I constantly worry for the safety of our leading candidates.

12. Over the holiday I visited with active military and recent veteran folks.
To a person what I heard: "Nobody in the military supports Bush", "Hardly anybody in the service likes Bush anymore", "Some that used to love him just don't say anything now".

13. Hardliners in the Air Force probably still like him
....it's career enhancing to be a right wing nut. Their personnel don't really have as much occasion to confront what the ground forces are dealing with. The Army is out front on this because occupation is primarily an Army function and guerilla warfare is an Army nightmare.
