Texas man gets 30-month prison term for Iraq bills (profiteering)
HOUSTON (Reuters) - A federal judge in Illinois sentenced a Texas man to 30 months in prison on Wednesday for inflating bills with bogus "war risk" charges for flying cargo into Baghdad under a contract with Halliburton Co's KBR.

Christopher Cahill, 41, will also pay a $10,000 fine after he pleaded guilty earlier this year to inflating the invoices he submitted to KBR by $1.14 million, the U.S. Attorney's office in Central Illinois said in a statement.

Cahill, an executive at Eagle Global Logistics, Inc., added a 50 cents per kilogram surcharge on freight his company shipped from Bahrain to Baghdad as part of a subcontract with KBR.

EGL repaid the government the $1.14 million in fake surcharges and an additional $2.86 million in fines.

Cahill was the fourth person charged in three cases involving supply contracts that are handled by the U.S. Army Field Support Command in Rock Island, Illinois.

1. So if someone overcharges Halliburton they go to jail.
But if Halliburton overcharges us... nothing.

And I'll bet Halliburton passed those padded charges on to us.
