Latest Bush Approval Rating at 37%
Little fundamental change in rating since June

PRINCETON, NJ -- The latest Gallup Poll finds George W. Bush's presidential job approval rating at 37%, consistent with recent polling. His approval rating has bounced between 36% and 40% since early June, after hitting a personal low of 31% in May.

In the Aug. 7-10, 2006 Gallup Poll, 37% of Americans say they approve and 59% disapprove of the job Bush is doing as president. He has averaged 38% approval since the beginning of June, after averaging 32% in May.

2. But does he care..
.. considering that Bush does not hold himself accountable
to people but rather to corporations, theocrats, and rich
cronies.

Remember, the people did not elect him.

5. That is WAY too high.
It is disturbing that this warmonger anti-Constitution THUG still has between 33%-37% of the voting public - depending on the poll - believing he's doing a good job. :scared:

This is just INSANE. :argh:

16. I agree, but then I consider...
all those who only get their news from Fox (it's the most popular news channel so it must the best), who only listen to Rush and Boortz and similar talking heads without ever hearing any alternate views (and around here they're quite rare), who go about their sheltered lives with little if any thought about complicated issues that don't directly impact them (unless their pastor tells them how it impacts them and what God expects them to think about it), who don't really pay attention to big things, and are perfectly content to let everyone mentioned above do their critical thinking for them.

In this red corner of my state, there are plenty of folks who fit the above description, and I have to admit I'm actually encouraged to know that nearly 2/3 of Americans see thru the lies of this administration and the biased crap that passes for news in many circles. I don't hold out much hope for reaching the blissfully ignorant 1/3 who still see Dubya as the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it is at least a little reassuring to know that the overwhelming majority of those who have working brain cells and choose to engage them now and then disagree with the direction the country and world are headed.

17. Excellent analysis of
the blissfully ignorant 1/3.

As I live in a red state as well, I understand exactly the kind of people you describe.

6. This is the way people are voting against expanding any wars in the M.E.
people are wising up; higher approval rating = attacking Syria and Iran more likely ... if most people were sure he wasn't planning on attacking these countries then I believe some of the Bushbots would return, but I sense many out there don't want to encourage the dummies in the WH

also his other policies suck too

7. Half their sample came AFTER the Britain terror arrests.
No bounce. Nada.

And frankly, why should there be? The BRITISH were the ones who broke up the plot.

8. Sick of polls!
Why do we have to have all these inane polls? It might be nice if the politicians could do their jobs (?}without checking first to see what the damned polls have to say about their popularity or lack of it. It seems to be the most important news of the morning.....my God. Let's stop the world and check the polls before we start the day, shall we?

9. he doesnt care...
I agree with ananda - polls dont matter to him. They are polling the people not polling the corp giants that love him.

11. They don't do polls for the President
Polls are not for the President. They are for the newspapers, radio talk hosts, TV news, magazine publications, pundits, etc.

Why poll? Because if they didn't king George could go around and show happy faces at his speaches in crowds and say "See! Everyone loves me!" But this keeps a nut-case like him, to some degree, in check with us...the people who get it.

Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 10:23 AM by Beetwasher
The President has his own staff pollsters. Karl Rove (and presumably Chimpy) probably gets more polls than any one man in history.

10. When It Went Up To 40% from 37% They Called It An Improvement
Now that it went from 40% to 37% they call it consistent. :eyes:

14. Lowest approval for a President since these ratings were started.
They started with Truman.

Nixon had a lower dip, but Bush is lower overall.

Only theft and fear could make or keep him President.

If this story can receive enough coverage maybe it'll drop back down to 31%.
