Death penalty urged in corruption trial

Woman accused in deals costing Vietnam millions

Reuters
Published November 28, 2003

HANOI -- Prosecutors are recommending the death penalty for a woman in a high-profile corruption case involving two former vice ministers of agriculture, state media reported Thursday.

La Thi Kim Oanh, 48, director of a company run by the Agriculture Ministry, and her accomplices are accused of using bank loans for bribery and personal expenses, resulting in losses of $7.48 million to the state.

Executions in the communist country are carried out by firing squad.

check your email, bubba

nice trib article, BTW.

did you see the one about the left behind soldiers in the paper version?

that article isn't online......that I could find, anyway

it described Illinois guardsmen (helicopter group) many of whom couldn't even get their TG dinner cause of long lines outside the mess.

they were exactly the kind of soldier that the filterers should not be discussing.

they hadn't heard about the thief of baghdad's sneaky backdoor entrance, either.

love to hear what they had to say when they found out about that

very poignant article, btw.

talked about them starting a "club" in honor of the chinook from their detail that was shot down. they named it after the rotor number of the one that got nailed. quite sad; give the trib credit for a feel not so good story of the day. no wonder it wasn't online.

may have to xcribe it for the web, if that's the case.

pugs will not be happy
