The family of a British soldier killed by insurgents in southern Afghanistan today challenged Tony Blair to send his own sons into the war zone.
Married father of two Lance Corporal Ross Nicholls, 27, was about to quit the Army but still volunteered for duty in the Household Cavalry.
He was one of three British soldiers killed when his unit came under fire on Tuesday.
He had decided to leave the Army because he wanted to spend more time with his wife, Angela, son, Cameron, two, and newborn baby daughter, Erin. The family live in central London.
