War may last another month: U.N. official
NAQOURA, Lebanon — A top U.N. peacekeeping official on Friday said he feared the war in southern Lebanon would continue until late August and voiced fears Israel would flatten Lebanon's southern villages and destroy Tyre "neighborhood by neighborhood'' if Hezbollah rockets keep landing in the Jewish state.

Meanwhile Hezbollah officials have agreed to a peace package that would disarm the guerrilla fighters.

At U.N. peacekeeping headquarters in Naqoura, barely a stone's throw from Israel, political affairs officer Ryszard Morczynski said Tyre would become a target of intense Israeli attacks because Hezbollah was firing rockets from the city's suburbs into Israel's northern port of Haifa.

"It is clear that if the pace of the war continues as it is today it will continue until the end of August," Morczynski said.

Pessimist. Guess it depends on things such as blow back, and dead band, and on and on and on.

5. Israelis don't have that history
This reminds me of the Yom Kippur war, which surprised Israel and gave the Arab invaders an early advantage. As it turned in Israel's favor, diplomatic initiatives began and a ceasefire was arranged. I expect the same result here.

According to US magazine Time, Israel has been targeting SMS text messages at local officials in southern Lebanon, urging them to move north of the Litani river before Israeli military operations intensified. On Friday, residents of southern Lebanon reported receiving recorded messages on their mobile phones from an unknown caller. The speaker identified himself as an Israeli and warned people in the area to leave their homes and head north.

With Hizballah showing more signs of tenacity than expected, the Israeli military issued warnings on Thursday for all residents remaining in south Lebanon to leave their homes and move north of the Litani River, which runs about 25 miles north of the border with Israel. But for far too many people, the warnings came too late.

7. The last time Israel invaded Lebanon they were stuck there 18 years
No way are they getting out of Lebanon in a month.

In the beginning the US said we would be out of Iraq in no more than 30 days.

8. Does this allow enough time for the CIA to operate false flag ops in Iran?
Or is that coincidence?
