WASHINGTON, July 26 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on legislation providing for a long-term rollback of estate taxes and extending other tax breaks this week, House Speaker Dennis Hastert said on Wednesday.

Asked by reporters outside the Capitol whether the House would take up the estate tax bill, Hastert said: "Yes." The Illinois Republican did not give details of that or the other tax breaks to be extended, but they are expected to include expired breaks for education, state sales taxes, and research and development.

2. Saw where Frist is trying to tack the repeal into the long-awaited pension
reform bill. Interesting the Democrats on the House Committee have been 'locked out' of the Senate/House negotiations. There were links to articles and a video of an outraged Dem. Rep. on a pension board I belong to.

4. I hope with all my heart that the A-Holes who vote for this
die before the estate tax is repealed, and their heirs have to pay.
Talk about irony!!!

7. They know that PUNITIVE tax measures are heading their way soon!
Whether it's escalating the estate tax or restoring higher top marginal income tax, there needs to be corrective action taken soon to avoid a depression. FDR knew that. Hopefully a new Democratic Congress (and someone like Russell Feingold as president) will know that and act when we have the power to put those changes through.
