Secret taping of Jackson investigated

Federal authorities opened an investigation yesterday into a Santa Monica, Calif., jet company to determine if any laws were broken when Michael Jackson and his attorneys were secretly videotaped last week on a private flight from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara, Calif., where the entertainer returned to face child-molestation charges.

FBI agents, armed with subpoenas, seized videotapes from the offices of XtraJet as a state judge granted Jackson's attorneys a temporary restraining order that forbids the company from selling, distributing or showing the videos made during Friday's flight.

Jackson's attorney Mark Geragos filed an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit against XtraJet, alleging that the videotapes were made without their knowledge, using concealed video equipment. The suit contends company officials sought to sell the tapes for a six-figure sum to media outlets.

XtraJet officials did not return calls for comment yesterday.

1. Say what you will about Michael Jackson.
That was a nasty thing to do. Secret videotaping of him in conference with his attorney? And then peddling the video to various news sources? I guess the only thing that surprises me is that these news sources turned it down.

2. Will Michael Jackson re-name Xtrajet "Tinkerbell Airlines?"
It looks like Mark Geragos and Michael Jackson may have gained an airline this week, so there might be a silver lining to MJ's dark cloud. This all got more TV coverage than if we'd invaded ten Iraqs.

3. it's the godd**ned administration. they're making people think they can
get away with anything. that any dirty trick goes. they have corruped our entire country with their mafia approach to things... it's a criminal administration that has corrupted an entire nation into criminal activity as a way of life and capitalization.

this is a transparent problem... look at the huge corporations who think they can get away with anything...

and the rethugs used to lie and accuse Clinton of causing the same thing. my god, bushco's administration is flushing the morals of our once-great country down the tubes, and they don't give a god-d**n.

6. I was thinking the same thing
don't give the Mafia a bad name. BFEE is in a different league with their ruthlessness. They are also more deadly.

7. this was more likely
someone trying to cash in on MJ's bad press...face it, a video of MJ doing anything is gonna be worth $$ to the press. They'd kill each other to get it. I don't think it's anything more than simple low level greed lol...

5. Bush's conduct as president has encouraged this type behavior
the notion is now that anything goes and there is no more right to privacy. Bush has set this example for the nation.
