Widow of Flight 93 hero tells his story in new book (Deena Burnett)
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 11:12 AM by RamboLiberal
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06191/704776-100.stm

The widow of Tom Burnett, who helped lead the passenger revolt on hijacked Flight 93, says in a new book that he had struggled to figure out what he believed was a message from God that might have presaged the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Deena Burnett wrote that a year before the attacks, her husband, who rarely spoke openly about his faith, told her he'd been attending Mass daily to try to understand a message from God that had "something to do with the White House."

He told her he hadn't figured it out, "but I know it will impact a great number of people," she wrote in her book, "Fighting Back: Living Life Beyond Ourselves."

<snip>

She also wrote that when she and other Flight 93 families were invited to the White House two weeks after the attacks, she asked President Bush for access to the plane's cockpit voice recording.

Burnett wrote that Bush replied: "I can see why you would want to. They sure were heroes on that flight."

Not everything is serious, and your attitude about "go sell crazy in the 9/11 forum", shows me you have zero sense of humor.

Buzz off. I don't need someone like you chiming in on my posts telling me where to post at. If the mods think it needs moved, they will take it up with me.

That doesn't make sense to me. Bush was (s)elected 10 months before those attacks. Put into office just over eight months before.

Maybe God was warning him of a coup.

seem to be a special breed of Fundie Bushbots. They've seem to have a special talent of milking their husband's memories all in the name of their god, of course.

Sorry, if anyone finds this offensive but there are some very odd things about this particular group.

(not meant as slam, she is a young woman and it's been nearly 5 years, God knows she entitled). I just find it interesting that she's still trading on her late husband's death. I'll wonder she'll be accused of "enjoying it".

8. I think you're thinking of Lisa Beamer of her husband Todd Beamer
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 11:10 AM by RamboLiberal
She's another Flight 93 widow - she's the one who sought to I believe copyright "Let's Roll". And she had a book out.

Didn't she and Deena campaign for Bush?

But according to Coulter you'd think the Jersey Girls were the only ones who backed a candidate based on their perceptions of *'s leadership on 9-11.

I'm curious how much TV time Burnett will get for her book vs. Kristen Breitweiser when her book Wake-Up Call : The Political Education of a 9/11 Widow comes out in September. Be an indicator to me of how the MSM is still treating the 9-11 story.

I was sickened by the overabundance of coverage that shill Coulter got with her inane criticism of the Jersey Girls.

out since May 1 - not exactly flying off the shelves - 143,533 in sales rank. Wonder if they are putting it in the current events or the religious sections. I know I haven't seen it. If I had I'd have probably scanned it at the bookstore though there's no way I'd buy it.

On edit - looks like everyone is trying to make their dime off 9-11. The operator who took he phone call from Todd Beamer has a book coming out this month.

Called: Hello, This Is Mrs. Jefferson. I Understand Your Plane Is Being Hijacked. 9:45 Am, Flight 93, September 11, 2001 (Hardcover)

41. Amazing, that Todd Beamer
spoke to Jefferson for over 15 minutes during an ongoing hijacking and had enough time to say the Our Father, Psalm 23 and then had time left over to organize the 'Let's Roll' Team.

One other funny thing about 93, only the people on the Let's Roll Team were able to make lengthy phone calls to people on the ground. Only one or two other people made very short phone calls, except the fellow in the bathroom, whose call usually gets ignored because it contradicts the 'Let's Roll' Team calls.

19. The real evidence suggests something else happened on flight 93 . . .
Wreckage over square miles of area suggest it was shot down. as many witnesses indicate military fighter aircraft in the area at the same exact time. How are voices in the passenger area of the cabin recorded on the flight recorder in the cockpit?

Cell phones don't work over about 3000 - 4000' feet off the ground in flight. Try it yourself the next time you fly. Just look at the bars as you fly and you get zip, nada over those heights. I know I've flown cross country several times with my circa 2001 Kyocera 2135 cell phone looking at the screen every 10 mins. and nothing until we approached those low hieghts again.

Now on-board phines will work, put that reqiures you swipe a credit card. The government should be able to show these phone records with personal data blacked out so we know when and on what exactly these phone calls were made. Produce the phone records.

MIHOP all the way. Some people are dillusional.

but that was one horrific experience for a family to go through and I sympathize with her and all the other families and friends. I'm not Coulterizing her and picking and choosing who to attack. She's got a right to speak as much as the next person. Something Bush and Co. never seem to understand.

And if she wants to run for office as a Republican - so be it! She has the right to do that.

I'd love to see Kristen Breitweiser run for office or one of the Jersey Girls, or some of the men who lost loved ones on 9-11 and questioned the Bush Admin response and utilizing of 9-11 as a political tool as well.

But you know any 9-11 survivor running as a Dem will be demonized and swift-boated by Coulter and the right.

28. Maybe God was telling him this:
1) A cabal of fraudsters will steal the White House from Al Gore.
2) They will ignore all evidence about terrorism, allowing a terrible attack to occur (maybe even help it along, but God is still being a bit coy about that).
3) Then they will use the attack to launch aggressive wars around the world.
4) This will be followed up by stealing the White House from John Kerry and further war-mongering.

If only this fellow could have figured out the message in time.

"Deena Burnett wrote that a year before the attacks, her husband, who rarely spoke openly about his faith, told her he'd been attending Mass daily to try to understand a message from God that had "something to do with the White House.""

Lets leave the hard-hearted refusal to feel or offer compassion to a woman whose husband was killed to Coulter. It's Coulter who can express contempt for someone who has lost a loved one, because she doesn't like their political beliefs. Thats what SHE does. Not us. 30. How many people will buy this total B.S.?
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 06:29 PM by Dancing_Dave
A book that's nothing but lying propaganda...well, the corporate media will put in a good pitch for it because they're getting desperate to re-inforce the false 9/11 mythology that they so stupidly and irresponsibly handed down from the Bush Administration!

But no matter what rave reviews it gets from tainted sources such as the New York Times, I bet no where near so many people will buy and read it, as have seen the internet movie "Loose Change". It's hard to count and track all the "Loose Change Files" going around on the web, but Loose Change already has been downloaded many million times, and that's before the big feature article about Loose Change and it's young creators in the upcoming August issue of Vanity Fair.

The 9/11 cover-up is coming apart at the seems, and soon enough Deena Burnett's pernicious mythology will be be dumped in the waste bin of history along with Nazi propaganda.
