New Lethal Injection Formula Recommended
NEW YORK, June 23, 2006 (UPI) -- The Oklahoma doctor who created the nation's first lethal injection protocol in 1977 says if he had it to do over again, he would recommend a different method.

Rather than the three-drug concoction now in widespread use, Dr. Jay Chapman said an overdose of a barbiturate would painlessly cause prisoners to lose consciousness, stop breathing and die, according to an article in Friday's New York Times.

The controversy over the type of lethal injection used in death penalty cases centers on whether the current method causes needless suffering.

It calls for an overdose of a barbiturate to render the prisoner unconscious followed by two other drugs, one which causes paralysis and halts breathing and a third which stops the heart.

5. Judge Not
If you can't prevent executions, what's wrong with working to make them as dignified and painless as is possible? Is it evil to ease a person's last moments, when they're going to die despite anything you can do? If so, you'd better tell that to all those ghouls who work in hospices.

4. This is often a recommendation by Vet Techs for our beloved
companion animals, i.e., FIRST give an overdose of a barbiturate.

IMO this practice is NOT A Revelation but should have been "common practice" since the onset of LETHAL INJECTION as a form of state sponsored execution.

7. New lemon scented with Aloe!
How can medicine be reconciled with capial punishment. The cruxified position is repulsive to Xians -- it appears they are awaiting being elevated for their last gasps.
How can we stay in the same boat with the Saudis and Pakistanis and China?
I'd rather be on the side of Canada and Ireland and France!
