9/11 commissioner criticizes Coulter
LINK

A member of the Sept. 11 commission on Friday lashed out at conservative pundit Ann Coulter for a "hate-filled attack" in saying the widows whose husbands died in the World Trade Center used the deaths for their own political gain.

In her latest book, Coulter criticizes the four New Jersey widows who pushed for an independent commission to investigate the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The women also backed Democrat
John Kerry's presidential candidacy in 2004. "These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis. I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much," Coulter wrote.

Former Rep. Tim Roemer, D-Ind., a member of the commission that investigated the Sept. 11 attacks, called Coulter's "hate-filled attack on the patriotic heroes of 9/12 — the widows of 9/11 — reprehensible and undignified." Roemer urged people not to buy her book. "Americans shouldn't contribute to her profiting from these vicious remarks."

Rep. Rahm Emmanuel, D-Ill., said Thursday on the House floor that Coulter is a "hatemonger" and called on Republicans to denounce her: "I must ask my colleagues on the other side of the aisle: Does Ann Coulter speak for you when she suggests poisoning not Supreme Court Justices or slanders the 9/11 ... widows? If not, speak now. Your silence allows her to be your spokesman."

3. The best thing would be if she were totally ignored!
Nobody buy her book, and her hate baiting get no response!

Remember, ANY publicity is good publicity! (No I don't remember who said that, but it fits here!)

4. Yeah, but ignoring her doesn't work.
she keeps getting air time. I think it's time to face the fact that she is probably here to stay, and has to be denounced.

12. I agree.
Ignoring Coulter might reduce the publicity she gets, but the memes that she's putting out there need to be countered.

Lots of people defend her rights to make these statements as free speech. Okay, but then the rest of us have to use our free-speech rights to call bullshit on the terrible ideas that she promulgates.

11. Maybe I didn't explain myself well. By ignore, I meant that NO TV
show would let her on! NO radio show would let her on!

13. Many people NEED to hate because of their own shortcomings.
That is what breeds monsters like Coulter.

Weak-minded people have a need to hate to prop up their egos.

They do not have the ability to take responsibility for their own failures, so they have to blame their problems on somebody else. These are the people that hang on the words of the Coulters and the Limbaughs.

22. Make her the Willie Horton of the 2006 election.
All Republicans hate the 9/11 widows. Bill O'Reilly said she made some good points even though her language may have been a little strong. Hannity had her on her show ( and maybe he's had off of the show, as well).

Run campaign ads quoting her and attach them to every republican candidate.

For example:

Show a line of republicans wearing "W" buttons entering a revolving door(ala the Horton ads)into a bookstore with Ann's picture above the doorway. As they exit back through the door, they are holding Ann's book and laughing as Ann's quotes are read out loud by a female narrator impersonating her voice:

Ann Colter: "These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis. I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."

Cut to a picture of the 9/11 kiosks with pictures of missing people with captions written in markers "Have you seen me?"

Ann Colter: "...And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy. . ."

cut to a picture of a widow at a funeral with Fred Phelps standing behind her holding up his "Thank God for 911" sign.

Maybe finish it up with Rep Rahm Emmanuel's quote:

"Does Ann Coulter speak for you when
she suggests poisoning Supreme Court Justices or slanders the 9/11...widows? If not, speak now. Your silence allows her to be your spokesman. She should apologize to all of us who've lost our fellow citizens."

Cut to the hole in the ground where the towers once stood.

Had Enough? Vote Democrat. For a Change.

2. Good. Joe Conason mentioned this today on Franken's show - that
the 9/11 Commissioners who know what the Jersey Girls did for the country should be out there slamming Coulter.

5. Good to hear that neither Joe nor Al will ever debate her again!
If every liberal raises a stink and refuses to debate her when asked, then the talk shows won't have a show, except if they just interview Ann. Go Joe and Al!

10. I'd rather they debate her and show her for the bitch she is
I want to see her eviscerated. Note she doesn't have the guts to go on a show where this would happen. Lauer is about the worse she'll get. I bet she'll never appear on The Daily Show, Colbert's Report, Countdown, or even Letterman. She'll stick with the safe hosts on Faux, MSRNC and CNN and won't appear with any pit bull liberals.

16. If liberals say "this shall not pass" and refuse to debate her
it will make a statement all its own. I agree with Al Franken and Joe Conason, let's not give her a debate platform. Her ideas all by themselves are deformed enough.

6. A strong, critical reaction of Coulter's remarks should
have spewed forth from our representatives, immediately. Waiting to see how the winds blow before they jeopardize their precious campaigns isn't going to buy them votes at this point in time. I can't imagine anyone of any party could look at Coulter's comments and take any other view than that she is vicious and hateful. She is an embarrassment to all females.

8. Al Franken said not three hours ago
that the 9/11 commission ought to speak up, if only because there wouldn't have been one if it hadn't been for the 9/11 families. I guess he's good for something after all.

21. emmanuel nails it
every time a democratic politician makes a minor ;gaffe; they get piled-on by hannity and co. their colleagues are hammered with "does so and so speak for you?"

but when a conservative insider like ann (she was a keynote at the conservative action conference along with dick cheney, where she referred to arabs as 'ragheads' with no republican backlash) says something beyond the pale, the GOP remains rather quiet, don't they
