Tester declared winner

By MATT GOURAS
Associated Press Writer

HELENA (AP) -- Longtime state lawmaker and farmer Jon Tester stole a big win from the better-funded campaign of State Auditor John Morrison on Tuesday night by convincing Democrats he is the man best able to beat GOP incumbent Sen. Conrad Burns on the issue of ethics.

Morrison, who entered the battle the better-known candidate and the early favorite to capture the Democratic nomination, saw Democrats leave him in droves as Tester pushed the ethics issue.

Tester was declared the winner, and Morrison quickly conceded.

Nicely done. Time for Montana to throw the Abramoff-funded scumbag Republican Conrad Burns out.

2. Excellent news
Conrad Burns is done.

Someone here posted a Tester TV ad, and I thought it was great.

Democrats, particularly the progressive kind, sure seem to be on the upswing in Big Sky country.

16. The Cut Bank Penguin would look real fine perched on Thomas Circle.
That might even tempt me to move back to DC.

10. I was flabbergasted by the Hill County numbers,
but then I remembered that every time I talk to my dad about the election, he mentions the time Tester came knocking at the door and what a nice chat they had. My dad rarely has nice chats with anyone.

Tester is going to need some money to compete against that multi-million dollar scumbag Burns warchest:

Contribute to Tester's campaign.

21. When you're fighting the jerks, you have to be a jerk
but you have to be nice to your constituents at all times and fight for their needs.

17. I have been following this....
...since I grew up in Montana. My son goes to UM in Missoula and went to the Pearl Jam concert on behalf of Tester. Though we live in the Seattle area now, I have been paying attention to Montana politics. It has been very interesting. This is good!

20. Very surprising...
The vast majority of the political prognosticators -- myself included -- had this pegged as a win for Morrison. Both of the men are good candidates, though, and Tester will do fine against Burns.
